Glad you got there safely.

I loved California the twice I visited. I loved the quilt shops (I was very near The Fabric Patch in Montclair) and they were all so friendly.

I visited the coast, and went surfing... I could easily become a beach bum if given the chance! (Oh I left that off my list of places I have quilted... on the beach) Muscle Beach was disappointing, but I enjoyed kayaking round the mansions at Balboa island.

We went for a couple of days up to Sta Clara and San Fransisco, and they were beautiful. I can still remember the chowder and those colourful houses and the view. And walking up and down those hills, my, but they were steep, and that from a Yorkshire lass!

OK there was tat and places that were scarier than normal, and I doubt I could cope with the politics, but has anyone looked around here recently?

I hope, one day, to go there again. My friends have moved (to the Yukon) so I will have other places to explore, but I loved the sunshine and the bookstores.

Hope the unpacking goes well. Nel (Gadget Queen)

Good to hear you made it safely. As for driving through the desert, LOL, I agree with you. That's a miserable drive. I envy you getting to meet up with Ginger. She's one special lady and when she came to our neck of the woods we spent a wonderful few hours together.

Take care and enjoy getting to know your 'stuff' again.

Oh, Amy, where are you at? Taria is only a couple hours from me, and so is Debbie, and a few others.

glad you got the drive done before our scary thunder-and-lightning storm we had about 5:30 tonight!

I am sorry the weather on arrival is really rotten. This is not the norm for the time of year. We need to work on better weather for Amy. It has been raining hard and more thunder and lightening than I ever remember here. Where are you settling in Amy? Taria, on the edge of the desert a potty stop out of LA

Well! i am in San Pedro, just over the Bridge from Long Beach. I would love a day with you all. I am free everyday, except the ones where i hopefully will have job interviews.LOL I dont have a cell# as yet, tho hopefully soon. Y'all can email me if you want to get together some saturday. that would make my day!!! The unpacking is almost done! we didnt bring much, but my fabric and machines were the most important of all. =) and i really want to find a spot to do my sewing at. Hopefully soon i'll be able to start back to work somewhere and get some extra cash for fabric. i depleted my stash enormously before i left. The thunder was very loud here, as we are about 5 blocks from the port of LA. the QI's here (3) were in a tizzy. hopefully the rain will subside thursday. Let me know the plan! amy in SoCal

Oh good, Amy. I was hoping you'd write more when you could. Anything unusual about your trip or was it just general tedium? Polly

Polly Yes, we had a great time! Even tho we each had our own cars, my daughter and SonIL had cell phones and SIL and I had walkie talkies. If I get a chance I'll try to upload some pics on my webshots. We had some terrific places for late lunches/early dinners, and we swam everyday at the hotels. my favorite was the Marriot in Albuquerque. what a view we had from the 11th floor!

I have messaged Debbi on FB, so if you Cali girls can...we could meet this weekend somewhere. Let me know! or let Debbi know! amy in SoCal
