Pictures - at last!

Those calendar quilts are really clever - and pretty! I think that was such a good idea.

Sophie's quilt is so bright and colorful - it's going to be adorable. Be glad you discovered that the back was upside down BEFORE you quilted it.

I agree with you on Webshots and Picasa. I just haven't gotten around to moving all mine. I also tried Flikr, but I think I like Picasa better than that one.

Wow. You are such a fine quilter and amazing artist. I love your calendar quilts .... and everything else, too. Just gorgeous. I think my favorite is your painted/embroidered piece that was the scene out your bedroom window. Sigh. Beauty.

How times have changed - or attitudes. I remember as a bride longing for a home where everybody didn't enter through the back door and see the kitchen sink piled full and the kitty's food tossed with abandon on a floor that needed mopping. I remember wanting a front door where there was some sort of foyer instead of stepping right into my not-yet folded laundry on the living room sofa. Now, the home buyers are requiring an open concept. Not this chicken. I'm with you. If there was a full view of my kitchen from the front door, I would enhance and obscure it with beautiful quilting. Thanks Louise - the little quilts work well instead of a curtain, and as the kitchen is fully tiled in very neutral colours it gives it a bit of life too. The hanging sleeve is on the kitchen side - quite narrow and in the same colours as the background. I used expanding net curtain rails and the window frame covers the ends looking from the kitchen side so you can't see them at all. Its nice having a change every three months too! One day I might do a Christmas one too!

I was amazed with Picasa that the files they give to get the pictures from have every picture I've ever downloaded, even those which didn't go into the 'My Pictures' section - from before the time I had a digital camera. There are hundreds and hundreds, all neatly sorted - clever Picasa - no clicking, you just scroll down. Some I didn't even know existed.

Yes, I miss that outlook and the house, but unfortunately it wasn't transportable. However I do like the town we live in now. Where we used to live was very much a commuter village near to the city of Nottingham (Robin Hood!) and it emptied in the mornings, but here everyone stays put as we are all old!! (well that is a bit of an exaggeration!).

Its a very friendly little town though, with lots to do for both of us - sometimes too much - so have never regretted the move, and although we can't quite see the sea from the house it is there every time I go shopping, though I must admit that now I sometimes forget to look at it.

Friends are more important than buildings, aren't they.

Today is wonderful cold 20degrees C and for the first time in days I feel comfortable. 30+ degrees I don't like. Only one of the Orchids survived the winter Pat, and that wasn't brave enough to flower this year : ( It is in what I imaginatively call 'the damp shaded area' as opposed to the rest of the garden which is ... well beach, and for the last 2 weeks Tropical Beach!!
