Yes. Hours 10-5 M-Sat. 2.2 miles east of Highway 59. You can google a map or call: (251) 968-7327?

I've never heard of this place! Thanks for the tip!

This place is fantastic - I went last year when we were at Gulf Shores. The owner, Martha, was fantastic. It LOOKS like you're pulling up into someone's YARD when you find the place, it looks like a house and the shop is on the lower level. I was a little leery, expected it to be small and odd, but it is BIG and has an excellent selection of books and patterns, also.

I got a TON of green batiks there. I do hope it is still open, it's a great place and Martha is a great lady.

Thanks for the info. I found the shop in 2006 while wondering around LA. I bought her out of purple and pink fabric for a double wedding ring quilt for my niece. I want to go back one of these days. We don't have any quilt shops in this area and buying thread at the new Walmart is not the thing to do when you are a quilter.

You have to make a special trip to the shop, yummy fabrics.

Only one of the three Walmarts somewhat near me (the only one in my town, one I pass on my way home, and one near work) still have fabric -- the one near work. I don't buy fabric there for quilts, anyhow, but the $1 table (now $2 & 2.50) is a good source for fabric to test garment patterns from before using the "good stuff" -- or rather, was a good source.

There are quilt stores in town, but garment fabrics are hard to find. JoAnns carries quilt fabrics, poly silkies and satins, and poly fleece -- and not much else. Hancocks has the same "assortment" plus odd assortments of other things, totally potluck, but almost never what I'm hoping to find.

More and more I'm buying fabric online. Want a specific shade green batik? It's a quilt shop (if you're lucky they will have that color!) or potluck that your monitor is showing the right color. Forget trying to match garment fabric!

I wonder if I'll ever start buying fabric on line. The "browse factor" is huge for me -- I'm more tempted by something I can handle and compare in the shop than I am by lovely pictures on the Internet.

For that matter, all greens work together! DH and I were driving through a rural area - with lots of hills and trees - not long ago, and I commented on how many different greens we could see. There were trees, of course, along with corn, beans, grass, farm pastures, etc., and while I didn't see any lime, the greens ranged from light to dark and were beautiful together!

You know, that is the absolute truth. Thanks for pointing that out. The other day my SO and I were floating in the local swimming pool and noticed how many different shades of green surrounded us.

you betcha they do. i'm sure there is some LIME green there somewhere. sometimes you have to get in real close or turn round a corner or three to see it but its out there. maybe more so in spring with the new growth is when you'll see more LIME. i love greens and leaves in particular. i love watching them flutter in a gentle breeze. on a sunny day with fluffy soft clouds in the background it cant be beat for a gorgeous view. very very calming effect. i could watch that for hours and hours. yup, greens cant be beat and they go with every other colour in the world somehow. j.

Internet shopping *really* comes in handy when you're in the middle of a quilt and find you've run short of a particular fabric, and invariably the LQS is forever out of that fabric. Just do a search, and if it's from a popular manufacturer, you can nearly always find it somewhere. I've been very pleased with 99% of my online fabric purchases. I did buy some fabric I thought was gold, but turned out to be too yellow-ish. Sometimes your monitor just doesn't display subleties like that correctly.
