Ping Kate G.

I bought some fabric with your possible future jar swaps in mind. Spiders (black ones with black webs on yellow and orange) for the bug jar swap, and small acorns (brown on brown print) for the bird feed swap. I really hope you decide to do these swaps, especially the bird feed one.

If you are worried about finding enough different bird feed fabrics there are loads of possibilities. I'm sure there is enough variation in bird foods that we could make a beauty of a bird feed quilt. Birds eat way more than just seeds and nuts. There are berries and other small fruits, vegetables like corn, bugs and caterpillars, and raisins. We could even add a mouse for the owls, or fish for other birds like the osprey, herons, or gulls. I am definitely interested... probably doing both (one at a time) but won't start until I get this Double Wedding Ring off to the longarm quilter! I'm 1/2 done with it! I sure hope the bride realizes how much time and energy went into it!

Are you making it the traditional way or using one of the newer techniques? I doubt the new ways make it any easier or faster though. How long have you been working on it? Half way done, I bet it looks awesome already. Debra in VA See my quilts at

Using the templates.... to cut individual pieces. Then sewing them together. Only short-cut is the acrylic templates instead of drawing out the individual pieces. Right now I have a "quilt" that is

3 rings by 6 rings... want to get to 6 rings by 8 rings! On my webshots page

-- you can see the skeleton of it -- these are the pictures that I included with her Wedding Card and gave to her at her August 5 wedding. That way she knew I hadn't forgotten her... I"m just slow! :-)

Gotta get busy!
