Piped bindings

Several days ago, Marcella mentioned how much fun she was having using binding on some adorable little pin cushions. I just received the Winter edition of American Quilter magazine, and Susan Cleveland (she's the one who made the tool Marcella and I both have) has an article beginning on page 20 and explaining the technique. Just FYI, if you're interested. :)

Just "piping" in to say that Marcella's pincushions are VERY adorable. :)

Sniffle. I want my quilt magazines! I still haven't gotten the December Fons and Porter and now AP&Q is out. sigh.

I've just skipped through it - thinking of the coincidence! I will be going back to read it properly later. I'm glad to have the instructions, because when I tried to do something similar it didn't work too well. Mind you, I think it would work better between a border and binding (I think that's how she describes it?). I tried to put mine between a pieced part and a narrow border. The piecing seams made the machine jump a bit and make the tiny strip go out of true. So, now I have every hope for success >g< . In message , Sandy Foster writes

Sigh - I will have to wait until the end of January for mine.

I have one of those tools - really neat!!

I don't get to see all posts. Are there pics of Marsella's pin cushions? I am currently making six mice thread holders, and I could use a break to look at something adorable!!

Yes, and that's how I've done it. Marcella put her bindings on instead of borders, since she was working with such tiny, adorable things. :)
