Somebody please tell Polly I think it's absolutely gorgeous. I would never try a quilt like that because of all the corners and points to match up, so I live vicariously through you guys. This one is definitely a good 'daydream' quilt. Polly, that rose fabric is stunning. I had some of the same in pink and fussy cut it all to make my mom's crazy quilt a couple years back.

Thank you, Jeanne, from me too. Amy's post didn't come in here. The fabric: the roses are Seattle from KonaBay and the sort of white background is just plain old Nancy Crow's "crush". I came across the roses for $5 yard and I just had to bring them home with me. And - nope - the block is silly simple. Just a whole lot of over and over... and over....... and well, you know. Polly

did i get that right? one square of each fabric, then a bunch of smaller HSTs? zooming in on the pix made all the difference to see how it worked. what sizes were the sqs and HSTs, if you could please. :) i guess you could make it any size tho. working backwards from the HSTs maybe, then figuring what size to cut the big sqs. all that said, i'd still like to know what size your sqs and HSTs were in that quilt. sorry brain not yet fully awake and tho i do sleep, its not good sleep and i wake feeling like crap most mornings. very clever indeed and Polly your points aint bad at all. nope, pretty damn good infact. :) well done you!!! j.

You are absolutely right, Jeanne. The method came from Nov/Dec 05 Fons & Porter but they used other measurements. I had 2½" and 4½" square templates on hand and figured that would work just as well. And just WHAT are you doing zooming in on my picture? I'll have to learn how to take zoomproof shots. Any of my points that match are purely accidents. If I stitch with just one thread showing past the right edge of the Bernina ¼" foot, the piecing goes pretty well but when my eyes are tired or my 'attention span of a bumper sticker' wanders, it doesn't happen. ok, anyone think it could be done with Thangles? I don't usually use them, but they are quick and easy. I did go back and analyze the pattern. HST it is. Lots and lots of them. G*d bless you girl, I would've fallen asleep during this one. The results are gorgeous tho. amy in SoCal

dont see why Thangles wouldnt work. isnt that just the type of quilt they'd be perfect for. (sorry i ended with a prep, its late and i'm old and tired). if you're in no hurry you could always do lots of cutting and make some as starter/enders when doing other projects. then when in the mood, just sew the little buggers til ya get sick of making them and leave'em for ender/starters. eventually you'll have enough to start joining them all up. has this design ever been done as a scrappy? that might relieve some of the possible boredom. if i remember, tomorrow i might set this up in EQ and play with colours to see how it looks. it is a lovely pattern and this method sure would make it easier to do. just a thot or three. j.
