Processing Stash

My burnout came from making organic breads, cakes, etc. The last straw was when I did a bunch of small size traditional Christmas cakes for a person who only told me at the last minute she needed them (a few days before Christmas, when I was doing my own baking, thanks), and then casually mentioned that mine were cheaper than the supermarket. Erm.

I haven't made a Christmas cake since, and it has been bliss. I did go back to baking our own specialty breads, on occasion, but it is for ME, and I get to make what I like, and WHEN I like it, and believe me, that makes all the difference.

I agree that it might be a good plan if you have the physical space to just box it all up, let it (and you) stew a while and decide how you feel in a year or two. Don't rush such a major decision. I mean, I'm glad I didn't give away all my baking tins and cookbooks, for example.
