I though a few weeks ago when I finally got all that new fabric into my studio and into my stash cabinet I would be done with it. Well I am here to tell you 'that ain't the case'! For the last several days I have been taking out each piece, measuring and fondling it all. Then putting it back in by color and print styles. I am now about half done. I have the bottom 4 rows done and there is barely an inch to spare. I am also as accurately as possible aligning each pile of fabrics so they are 12 1/2" wide x 45 inches deep. My cabinet is
48" deep and I can get 3 rows across with them being 12 1/2" wide. Before this influx of new fabrics I could take care of my stash in about 6 hours. I would be as pleased as a peacock. Now after 4 days working from 7a-9p with hardly a break I have 4 1/3 shelves done. The shelves look great though and the effort is well worth it. I am very carefully measuring things. If a piece has under a yard it is not going in the stash cabinet. I have another bin for those pieces. Needless to say those pieces will be used first. When I think I only put a dent in this woman's huge stash I can only shake my head. I only wished I had more space because of course I would have bought more. Of course as a quilter and fabric-holic it was very hard to say STOP!. To think I bought home 20 Large garbage bags, 2 egg crates and a full roll of Warm and natural all for the grand total of $400. I haven't even begun to work on the fq's. Except to fill an under the bed tote that is as far as I have gone. As I mentioned before I should never have to buy another piece of fabric as long as I live except for full size backing or batting. And just so you all know the Stash police keep a close watch on my stash. julia- posted
