quest for blocks

This may sound crazy, but I'm looking for quilt patterns or blocks suitable for a small wall hanging in a bathroom. Anyone know of a site or book? Thanks for any help.

and put, bath, bubbles or rubber duck, etc. in the search and come up with some appropriate prints to put into the blocks of your choice for a bath themed wall hanging. Is that what you had in mind? If you're talking about one of those futzy scenic mural thangz with a bathroom theme fugidaboudit.......It took our Butterfly who knows how long to get me off the couch and she's run out of smelling salts ;) Val

No, not crazy at all. I went with tropical fish for a wall hanging in my bathroom. Rubber duckies, dolphins, beach scenes, and river scenes are all good themes that you could run with.

If you want specific traditional pieced blocks--Hole in the Barn Door, Mariner's Compass, Duck Feet, Atlantic Seas, Storm at Sea, Beacon Lights, Water Wheel, Watermill, Wavy Navy, Lady of the Lake, Leap Frog, Lost Ship, Coast Guard Star, Lighthouse or Ship blocks would work.

Applique blocks can easily do almost any theme, as can paper pieced ones.

Also, try looking for novelty fabric and use a block that will show off a big print, or do something similar to my wall hanging and just sew strips together to form a scene. Debra in VA See my quilts at

You could make some cute outhouses from those tall birdhouse blocks I see a lot of- just turn the circle for the bird to enter into a crescent moon higher up. Could do jazzy colors or more traditional with ribbon embroidery flowers around. Or you could get really fancy and make the doors open.

I seem to recall someone here doing a cute "outhouse" quilt. I think something like that would be appropriate.
