crazy quilt

I'll never do another crazy quilt again in my life. Now I know how it got it's name. It drives you crazy trying to make a square block out of all the odd size pieces.

Don't say that, Karen. There *is* a way! You design, so it won't be a problem for you.

Draw a square/rectangle (this is the quilt , not a block). Then draw lines to divide it up (if you draw lines from side to side it will be easier to put together; but, if you are happy doing partial seams (a very useful skill to have) then you can draw them anywhere. You are drawing to scale, so don't leave any pieces too large. These pieces are the *blocks*. You can then either do the patching in the traditional, crazy way, or you can draw them. If you do them the traditional way, you can use your scale drawing, enlarged as a template - remembering to add the quarter of an inch all round. If you draw them, you won't need to. I did mine so that I could foundation piece them, but that isn't necessary. Mine was also extremely small!! but the principle should be the same.

Have a little try - I loved mine. Never done one before. . In message , "Karen, Queen of Squishies" writes

Oops! I forgot to say that these cutting lines should be almost random - you are not trying to make square or rectangular blocks - just any old shape! Sorry. . In message , Patti writes
