Never heard of it - even Google's no help. Can you tell us what it is and what it does? Maybe the software developer??

Questimator was some software developed by quilter named Liz and it would calculate for instance if you had 10 " blocks and you wanted the quilt to be

4 blocks wide and 5 blocks long and you wanted it to be a queen size it would help you figure how wide sashings would be along with certain size borders and could figure the binding also . The end result would give an approximate figure of material yardages for each phase and the length and width of the quilt. Google makes mention of it in a response at 3/10/2001 by a person called " misnomer" amd it might be the person named Liz who offered it to quilters in this newsgroup. So as Paul Harvey says "You know the rest of the story"

I had a search as well and came up with nowt. I use 123-Quilt to do just that [NAYY] you can download a demo that's a full working version for 30 days but after that you have to buy it. Would be good to have a freeware that would just calculate for you and not worry about the design bit.....there's an opening for someone with programming skills! Wendy

Wow! That sounds like a very cool app ... I couldn't find hide nor hair of any mention of it on Google, though (aside from a reference to this thread and some company that's developed survey software with that name).

I really hope you find it - and I wish you the best of luck.

May I ask what you tried to do to bring it back to "life" on your computer? Or was it one of those cases where you had to wipe the drives? :(

I'll post about this on my blog in the hopes that someone out there will know someone who has a copy. Was it freeware? Or shareware? If not, you may not get any hits - copyright and licensing and all ...

:o) Your're welcome, Connie. It's like a a scaled-down version of Quilt Pro, can't draw up your own block like QP or EQ but I find it really handy to work out dimensions, how many blocks I need and yardage very quickly. I have EQ 4 but never use it.

I went there and it won't work for Macs - not even with an emulator (like Virtual PC)! :(

Mac people just get left out of the loop for so many things!!

But I did download it - my 10 yo has my PC - now if I can just kick him off Runescape (shudder)! :)

Thanks again, Wendy!!! :)

Not free, but there is the QuiltCalc, which is a calculator built for quilters. You can input all sorts of different stuff and get yardage estimates and so on. Costs about $30-$35 or so most places.

There is also a low level program from EQ, Quilt Design Wizard (?) or something similar, that might do the same thing. Not a full fledged design program, but probably able to do at least basic yardage calculations based on a quilt designed within the limited parameters it has. You might want to check on that.

Good luck, Pati, in Phx

I was just trawling the net looking for something totally unrelated to the question posted by Mary and found this site. I've been here before but had forgotten about it.

has a lot of different online calculators and tables for working out just how much yardage, how many blocks, how long to make that binding etc..........not being and expert quilter myself, I find that any help on calculations is a BIG help. Wendy in NSW
