Quilt design question!

Thanks Carole. I did promise myself that this quilt (one of a planned four of floors of the same cathedral) would be the one with significant quilting in it. The two main ones will only have SITD, because the tiling in those is very intricate, and I have no intention of hiding it in any way!!. I'm quite pleased with the idea of auditioning the various designs with Press 'n' Seal, though. You might like to try that - saves a load of unpicking >g< (just in case!). It looks perfect there, and I put the triangle spiral on the cream triangle in between the leaf-patterned zig-zag. It looks good there; and still the whole thing co-ordinates, with the repetitions. Mumble has turned out to be such a unique Neddie! He is sweet and gentle and cuddly - not a bit snappy. Thanks Jenn. On my table is a book of Celtic knots and mazes!! Thing is, I didn't think I could do them without marking them - and I'm not going to do that - certainly not for this one; and they're not the sort of thing you can cut out and quilt round. If they are double, they will have to have unders and overs. I sort of had to abandon them, and settle for the triangle spirals instead. I do plan to do the snowflake in all the squares of that size, changing colour of thread, as the colour of squares changes. I will do the half black/pink ones in two colours - split down the middle. I would love to investigate Celtic work more, when I have more time. I have another quilt in the cathedral series which also has fairly regular and simple tiling patters - the patterns from the various steps and side panels. They will have long plain 'in-between' strips. Celtic work would look lovely on them. So, don't hold your breath, but thanks for the idea. You are allowed some fussy designs to quilt such a geometrical piece. And remember, they won't show quite as much after they are stitched, unless you use contrasting thread. Roberta in D

My feathers were looking pretty bad to start. That was why I practiced a bunch on paper before trying the sewing machine - sure a lot easier to erase than to pull out stitches!LOL And then, even if there were little glitches when I did the final sewing they were not obvious at all and the overall effect was pretty good. I did them a lot slower than she did - until I got into a good rhythm I would stop after each individual feather and think what to do next...
