Quilter in the news

Howdy!

Here's part of this woman's story:

and her quilts:

And before you say something negative about her quilts, read her story. And ask yourself, "Under those circumstances, could I do that?" ;-)

Cheers! R/Sandy

More power to her, but I cringe at the thought of a blind person using a rotary cutter! Actually, I cringe at the thought of most people using a rotary cutter!!!!! joan

I saw her last year at the quilt show in Jefferson, TX. She is truly remarkable.

I have a blind friend who got the standard training they do in Germany. Unlike this woman's experience, they teach all blind people hand sewing - no problems about handling a needle, as that quilter's trainers expected. But the German school *would* *not* teach my pal how to use a sewing machine.

On a scale of unswerveability my friend rates somewhere between Genghis Khan and a tsunami. She more or less told them to stick their hand sewing needles somewhere soft and painful and worked the machine out for herself.
