Re: Stiffeners, Inserts for bag bases, etc.

Just clearing up in the kitchen and realised how many things now come in plastic containers which can be cut easily with scissors and recycled as stiffeners or bag bases. Wouldn't bend like cardboard, and is FREE!

It was when I picked up the clear box that the pretty detergent bubbles for the washing machine came in that inspiration struck. Actually it wasn't my inspiration, the bottom had already been cut off, presumably by DH!

Oh good! Thanks Sally. I hate throwing those containers away - they seem to good; they must be useful for something!! .

Ya know, now that you mentioned it, the styrofoam plate that your fresh meat sits on could be cut to fit into a sleeve for the bottom of a bag.

For many years I have made drawstring camping bags to fit the empty bleach bottles. These are just right for soap, sample shampoos, sample toothpaste, toothbrush, & washcloth to take to the bathhouse to shower. I refill the shampoo & lotion from my big bottles in the house before we go camping. The motel soaps are just right for the bags and I keep them in a small plastic bag. We each have our own color. I have been known to go to the laundry mat to search for the bleach bottles-----who me? grin! I have 2 bags that are more than 15 years old. Barbara in FL
