REPOST: Bug Jar Fabric Swap -- we need you

Spaces still available!!! Not planning a bug jar quilt today -- that's okay. Stick the stack of squares in your stash and the next time you need a fun quilt for a little guy in your life... you'll be good to go!

**************************************************** I'm not sure we'll make 20 participants... but we've got at least 8 - 10 who have shown interest so that is a pretty good start! I will take names until October 10th -- then we'll know exactly how many participants we have. If you think you might like to make a bug jar quilt some day -- this would be a great opportunity to get the critters fabrics and tuck them away.

Here are the details:

We are swapping 8 x 10 inch pieces of fabric (all the same - selvage EXCLUDED) of fabric suitable for a "BUG JAR" quilt. What does that mean? Critters that fly or crawl or otherwise make you go "Ewwww!!!!"

Could be ants or bees or spiders or frogs or lizards or even butterflies (we wouldn't Ewww to them tho!). Scale should be small to medium -- background colors could be anything. If your not sure if a fabric is appropriate -- please check with me. All fabrics MUST be 100% cotton.

The MOST fabric you would need is 1 1/4 yards (I will cut off the number of participants at 20 if necessary.) If you cut your fabric into 10" strips selvage to selvage... remove the selvage -- you should have at least 40 inches remaining to cut into 8" blocks.

Before you either purchase or order your fabric, please send me a link or a jpeg that I can post in a webshots album so participants won't duplicate fabrics. (if you don't have a picture -- give me the details -- and I'll try to find a picture for you!) Right now the field is wide open -- so get me your pictures/link asap if you know what fabric you are plannign to use. You may participate multiple times -- but must submit different fabrics for each entry. (For example -- you want to do 3 quilts, join 3 times... send me 3 stacks of DIFFERENT fabrics and you'll receive 3 stacks of the swapped fabrics in return. I will also include a pattern for the jar.

DO NOT hold back a square for yourself -- that makes things more difficult for me. Send the exact # of rectangles I ask for -- and that is what you will receive in return... including your own fabric.

The Deadline is to have all fabrics to me NO LATER THAN October 31st. I will swap them and get them back in the mail by November 7th. You will need to include a prepaid return envelope with your package to me. The cost should be the same both ways. If you are non-USA resident and would like to participate, you are welcome -- but you may have to move quite quickly in getting your package to me. If return postage is an issue -- we'll work something out.

If you would like to participate, please email me privately at grovesfam at comcast dot net. Please put BUG JAR SWAP in the subject line -- so it won't get spam filtered. I will give you my mailing info privately.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. If you want to participate but are unsure how to find "bug jar" fabrics... one suggestion is to go to

formatting link
and do a search for fabrics (use the thumbnail option -- to actually see the fabrics). For your search words use worm or ant or bee or spider... with the word fabric. If you are taken to a shop you are unfamililar with -- just ask here if anyone knows of them or has bought from them and I'm sure you'll get some info.

Have fun... and I hope to hear from all you "buggers" soon!
