(Cough) Perhaps they don't people having access to this information for various reasons. Could be they don't want a manufacturer knocking off cheap imitations. Or perhaps there are certain political factions inside and outside the country that they don't want them having access to the material or it's manufacturing process. Just guessing here, but that's my thoughts on why you can find these fabrics.

Ummmm, where are you located?

I think your best bet would be to contact the U.S. military and ask them for this information as I don't have it and doubt anyone on this board would have said information. Perhaps you could contact someone at the U.S. embassy in your country and they could possibly put you in contact with the right personnel. I have no knowledge of the manufacturing aspect nor the material used in the manufacturing.

Click on 'Embassy' on the yellow bar.

Click on 'Contact Us' on the list at the left.

Explain who you are and what you would like to know, and they'll either send you contact details or ignore it. Embassies are mean like that.

If we told you the spec, we'd have to kill you. ;)

That's an acceptable joke in the rec.arts.sf. hierarchy, but not in this one.

Particularly when the O.P. can be presumed to be unfamiliar with it.

Here's a little news flash for you: You don't get to decide what is or is not acceptable on Usenet. It was a joke, plainly illustrated by the wink that you snipped for the purpose of trying to provoke controversy. Next time you feel a snit coming on, I suggest you (or another other self appointed Usenet cops) not read my posts or do your carping here:

Come on Joy, lighten up The OP asked for information that is probably classified and most likely knows it is. Just because he said we can trust him, how do we really know that.I would think that if he is legit he wouldn't have much trouble getting what he needs. All in all he's lucky that someone didn't REALLY threaten him with something like the CIA.It was a joke and you know it. Juno

I am very proud to be a veteran of the Korean War and wore uniforms of several fabrics, but I will not discuss them with anyone. Frankly, if they are so desirous of the information, they should go straight to someone in the wardrobe dept. at the Pentagon or wherever the info is stored. Emily

Wardrobe?? I served during the Korean Conflict under PL 550 too and we didn't have a Wardrobe Department in the Army that I remember. We had to deal with grizzled Supply sergeants instead. JPBill
