Road to California Quilt Show

I'm starting to get excited about our trip to California. We leave Florida on Jan 12, returning on Jan 20. I'll be white gloving at the quilt show on Friday from 11-2. I plan to wear my Limestone Guild pin, as well as the RCTQ one I made a long time ago. Hope that someone introduces themselves to me! I'll be away from the computer after Jan 11, so if anyone has plans to attend let me know. We'll be arriving in the area on Thursday, and fly out on Sunday. Hope to do some meet-ups. I plan to bring some fat quarters along, just in case!

Hugs!! And have FUN!!! Connie :)

I found this amusing because we are leaving for Florida on the 12th and returning the 23rd. My husband has a meeting in Orlando the last

3 days and we want to go early to explore. We've only been to FL once, in 1994, and we stayed on Disney property the whole time. We are thinking about visiting Cocoa beach, Clewiston, and Ft. Myers area. We like quaint, rather than ritzy. Do you have any suggestions? We will rent a car and probably stay at Hampton Inns or something similar.

I went to Road to CA last year on Thurs. It was so crowded it was hard to get around so I said never again. I hope you enjoy it.

IIRC, Ft. Myers would fit the term "ritzy" more than quaint!

Think about Punta Gorda or Port Charlotte ... they're about 2-3 hours (?) away from Orlando, but MUCH quainter than Ft. Myers!! Though with PC, you'd be more likely to see damage from the last "big one" (hurricane). So while that's not exactly cheerful, you'll still see an "old Florida town."

Another nice place to visit is St. Augustine - now THAT'S quaint - it's Florida's oldest continuing city and you can see a LOT of history there. And don't forget Homosassa Springs - you can feed manatees there and do LOTS!! Both, I would think, would be on the way from Idaho to Orlando.

HTH!! Have a GREAT time!!! :)

Hugs!! Connie :)
