It sounds to me as though you are thoroughly enjoying a temporary bout of insanity. Go for it. While you're at it, have you considered the innards of an old clock? That should produce some interesting designs. And what about damage to the fabric with your rust experiments? Is there any? Polly

Polly - no way of telling at this point. Once I wash them, we'll see. Right now I have at least 2 inches of rainwater added to the mix and am curious what effect, if any, that might have. I also am using vintage cast off sheets, towels, and pillow cases, so I may not be able to tell if the damage is original or new.

Have you thought about adding some other metals to the experiment? The moonshiners here use copper tubing but they're not very good about sharing; maybe you could get a piece or two from a plumber. And there's brass. Ought to be some brass decorator junk at a yard sale. Silver? Yes. You need to test some silver. Back to the yard sales for a grungy spoon or two. Polly

"srussell" I also have done some rust dyeing. The results are always different. Makes

Polly, since the gray/blue stains are definitely not rust - it makes a lot of sense to try other metals! Thanks for the ideas!
