Ok...this IS interesting. I am in the market for a new washing machine. My first generation Maytag Neptune is heading for the junk heap VERY soon! Yesterday I was looking at some Samsung brand front loaders that have the Ag technology. Hummmmmm. You can choose a cycle that adds the Ag particles to your wash...or choose not to. I was told that hospitals are using this techology. I'm not sure just how necessary this is for a home washing system though. But I do love bells and whistles....even after being burned with the Neptune. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to gamble on this time! My 30 year old Maytags are probably still chugging along in some rental property.

Actually the Neptunes are a little older than that, probably a little over
10 years. I've forgotten exactly when I bought mine....maybe 9 years ago. Yes it is too early for these expensive machines to go kaput....but if you read the reviews, I'm in good company. The repairmen won't even work on them anymore...just too much $$ to fix when something else is going to go bad. I've had two pumps replaced under warranty. Now the bearings are going out and something leaks water into the tub when it's off. My SIL had two circuit boards replaced in addition to other problems, but now she has purchased a new LG set...and HER SIL is replacing her Neptunes too! There have been recalls and class action lawsuits on this model. Unfortunately, none of my problems are covered in the class action suit and I'm way out of warranty. You can bet that I'll be purchasing the extended warranties for appliances from now on. I also have a Kenmore refridgerator that is 3 years old that has died. NO warranty coverage on that either. Want to hear about my car??? No, you don't, trust me! My SIL and I decided I should get a different brand than hers. (I'd waited after she got her Neptune to see if she liked it...I didn't wait long enough I guess.) That way only one of us will be shafted!
Have a loook at the LG dishwashers. My parents have an LG anf mum loves it, we have a Dishlex and wish I had an LG like mum's!

My last dishwasher was Bosch - DSisIL now has it - I bought it in 1982 as a 'returning to work and no time' present! When we moved there was no room for it, so we gave it to her, and then when we had the extension built and the washing machine and stocking tumble drier went in there, we got a new one - Bosch of course!
The 1982 model has had new plastic baskets, but the 'insides' have never gone wrong!
