Somewhat OT: popcorn hat/costume

I hope this ends up in the right thread - google takes forever to update and I don't have a newsserver at the moment.

Wendy suggested sewing popcorn to a knit hat. I like that idea. I had _no_ ideas before (except that if I wanted bigger that natural popcorn, those could be made with W&N).

But I think Wendy's other idea might be fun too. Mainly I need to make

7-10 year olds laugh.

Thanks Hanne

If I were making a popcorn hat I would use cardboard to make a BIG Cat-in-the-Hat like cylinder, which will get you the attention you're looking for by wearing a hat.

Instead of horizontal stripes (a la the cat) I'd go for vertical (like a movie popcorn container). I'd give it a false bottom way up at the top and I'd glue in some of those plastic peanut things that are also called popcorn. There is some bold red and white striped fabric at my fabric store for $1.99/yard. I would even use a Sharpie to write "Popcorn" on the 'container'.

You'd get attention, you'd get your idea across, and as you're mostly just looking at 'internal' meetings you don't have to worry what kind of popcorn you're representing (I'm guessing the popcorn you sell isn't movie-style popcorn). This is an attention tool, not a marketing tool...

Sounds fun!

Read the other responses, but the first thing I thought of was gluing stryo "popcorn" all over a hat......... sort of a top hat style........ like the ones that are sold around St. Patrick's day. (unless all you have then is derby hats) . But you could make one with lightweight cardboard. I also like the tall cap bit.

Coming in late here....

Why not get a popcorn bucket from the movie theater? You could make it into a crown by cutting the top at a zig zag. Cut out a hole on the bottom to go over your head. Decorate it and be the Popcorn Queen?

If you wanted you could jazz it up with your batting popcorn coming out the top. Or not....or change what's on top to keep their attention.
