Source for cotton lame'- cheap! Help!

I got myself into a pickle here. My "Quilted Furnace Thermometer" went over so well at church that I am going to make a *bunch* of banners of various types for my church to display. How do I get myself into these things??? Oh yeah, I said I'd volunteer to do it. VBG Why doesn't someone bop me upside the head when my mouth starts to open.... and before I can say "sure, I can do that"??? The Hunky Mr. Collins is an enabler- no help at al!

I need a LOT of gold lame' of the quilter's cotton type- not that flimsy, slinky tissue lame' stuff. Does anybody know of a source for it by the yard that won't cost me my entire life savings? TIA

Ha! I knew that was going to happen!!! Would the quilters gold "shot" cotton work? It's not the shiny, shiny lame, but the woven cotten with metallic threads through it? I have some....not a LOT, but I bet we can find a good quantity for you. KJ

Didn't we all just *know* that would happen! LOL Oh well..... I have some FQs in various colors that I bought years ago that were advertised as cotton lame' for quilters. I don't know anything else about it, but it really isn't very shiny at all- prolly less shiny than those yummy Hoffman fabrics with the golden highlights. I just need something that's shiner than your normal gold colored cotton fabrics- which aren't shiny at all, of course- just a hint of a glint??? And several plus yards of it- so thanks for the offer, but.....

Awww, c'mon now, Leslie. Nothing. Nothing has the stage presence of real lamé. I have a nice-sized hunk left from a Mardi Gras project. Be glad to send it to you. All you have to do is sneak it warmly onto some stabilizer and it is much more beautiful than any 'also ran'. I don't guess any of your projects must be prepared for spit-up spinach or teething. Don't you want to use the real thing? Polly

I agree with Polly, a little soft stabilizer, and the lame will behave beautifully. And truly, if you need more than Polly has, I think I have some fat quarter sized pieces of both silver and gold. Might take me a bit to find them, but I'm willing if you need them.
