Speaking of Facebook - NOT OT

A couple of months ago some of you might remember that I posted that I had joined a swap on Facebook and that I needed to make 144 blocks. Crazy? Yes....especially when trying to get ready to move to another state.

Went out and bought the fabric and made all 144 blocks. Then stupid me, made a huge cutting mistake and not realizing this until I was about halfway through the trimming of them. Oh well. I decide to start over because I wanted them to all look alike. Back to the store. More fabric pruchased. Oh darn.......

Get a notification that the group didn't get 144 participants to sign up so only make 100. I did that. Mailed em off and waited and waited and waited.

These were supposed to to be at the moderator's by May 1 with a turn around date of May 15 for mailing. Well here it is June 15. I received my blocks yesterday. There were only a total of 63 people out of the 100 that mailed their blocks in. Why do people do this????? It is so aggravating to all involved

So I have received 37 of my blocks to returned to me and was wondering if anyone would be willing to exchange a siggie block with me if I give you the directions....I would love to be able to have the full 100.

Let me know if interested.

Thanks,

What a rotten shame! I was involved in a block exchange ONCE, and that will be the last one, too! The blocks I got were OK, but it cost a lot more than I had originally planned to mail them all -- several to the UK. It was a fairly small exchange after about half the people dropped out, so to make a coverlet quilt for a twin-size bed I would up making a lot more blocks here, and then adding 3" sashing. Never again!

Cindy, I don't want to swap blocks, but if you give me directions,I'll make a block for you. No problem. I really don't like those scatter shot swaps. I just was admitted into the Doll Quilt Swap 9 and that is exciting. We have a secret partner and a deadline and deadly threats and one 'list mama' making angel quilts already to be prepared. Anyhow, send me details and I'll gladly send you a block. Bet a lot of others would do the same.

Cindy,

What kind of blocks are they? Maybe I can make you a few or even have some from other swaps that I can send you. Swap blocks tend to have similar themes and sizes and I'd always make a few extras for myself when I use to do them.

I don't do the scatter shot swaps any more either. I'm like your. If I commit to something then it is written in stone unless in insurance- speak, and Act of God occurs that I have no control over and it frustrates me mightily when others either don't honor their commitments within a reasonable length of time or at least let me know that there is a problem. I'm still waiting for an entire year's worth of monthly blocks from one swap. Even more aggravating because it was a monthly drop in swap with no obligation to continue with the swap as we got a mail-to list each month from the hostess.

If you like the idea of swapping, but not the aggro, have you tried a round robin or row by row group swap?

Hi Cindy -I'll tag on here. I remember the swap proposal on FB but didn't want to sign up if I couldn't be sure to finish on time. I'll send you a block though. One block even I can do!! Give us the details!

That looks easy enough. What size is your square?

Here is the link to the pics.

It's just white on white in the center and batiks in the corners.

Cindy, I made that quilt for my niece's graduation w/o signatures. Was a fun quilt to make! Mine was not scrappy though.

I loved it when I first seen it and thought that it would make a cute quilt but then happened to get screwed again with people dropping out.

I was finally going through the blocks yesterday and I can see that some people didn't follow directions either. There are supposed to be 2 different batik squares in the corners but some people used the same fabric. Oh well, what can you do???
