I have been thinking for months about a quilt for my husband in honor of our 40th wedding anniversary. Nothing seemed right until last week. I had purchased a large striped print which would be good for sashing on a strippy quilt. It is a Judie Rothermel fabric, Vicksburg 992.
I spent several enjoyable hours picking 40 blocks with names that represent something about our life together. Of course I started with Contrary Wife! Our anniversary is in early August so I will have to work fast. My plan is to have all the blocks pieced and present them each with an attached note explaining the significance of the block name. Of course this saves me the time of assembling and quilting the quilt but I think having a box of blocks will be easier to read the notes than if he had to refer back to a large quilt.
Ok now that I have announced this in public I will have to finish it. Will report back at least once a week on progress. Pictures eventually.
