Technology Marches On - not OT

I'm sitting here in front of my computer and am just flabbergasted!!! My daughter is having a baby girl in June, and I'm making cutesy burp cloths. I have a Husqvarna Designer I embroidery machine which was top of the line when I bought it, several years ago. I use it for quilting, not much embroidery. Anyway, I decided to download some cute embroidery designs from and spent several hours finding just what I wanted. OK. . . today I'm going to sew. Yea, right! That's when I woke up. My machine has a disk drive, yes, the little 1.44 MB disks. Does anybody remember those? The procedure is to download the stitching file (pay for it of course), save it to the little disk, then take the disk to the machine, insert it and let the machine stitch out the design. Here's where the whole thing falls apart. I bought a new computer almost a year ago. It doesn't have a disk drive, just a CD/DVD drive, and it just never entered my mind that I could no longer create the disks for my sewing machine. That tells you how often I use it for embroidery!I can't plead technology ignorance, I worked as a computer specialist for the Government for 30 years. I really think I'm getting old, and losing my mind.I'm not going to even entertain the idea of a new sewing machine, have you seen the prices on those!So for now, I'll drag out an ancient computer I have in the garage, go through the drill of hooking it up, and download my files and create the disk. Oh Happy Day!I am going to call Husqvarna and see if they'll replace my defective machine! Ha!Maybe there's an upgrade to replace the disk drive with a CD/DVD drive.Michelle G.

Me too, I'd like to have a grandchild of my own. Right now I'm making do with those of my sisters. If only my son would go forth and multiply!

And I should have read further and I would have seen that others gave the info on the external disk drive. My current desk top has an "A" drive and I transferred all of my pictures from those floppies to both hard drive and not CD but DVD disks. It only took two days!
