The Power of a Squishie

I received in my mail today two lovely squishies from a couple of RCTQ'ers (thanked privately) and those little parcels just made my day.

It's been a couple of rotten weeks in our household with my Dad being hospitalized for a week (he's home and doing well now), our car requiring some unexpected and expensive repair, and myself requiring some emergency dental work which, when completed, will end up costing me...well, a lot.

When my hubby checked the mail for the first time since the first of the week and presented me with these two squishies, well, let me tell you, it just made my day. It made all the other stuff seem just a little less overwhelming.

So don't ever underestimate the power of a squishie -- and as soon as I'm able, I plan to "pay it forward". This is such a great group of people. :-)

I keep hearing about squiches, and I don't mean to sound dumb, but what is a squishy? And how do you make one?

There is no such thing as a dumb/silly question - just something you don't know *yet*

a squishy is an envelope filled with something soft - usually fabric. this can be a few scraps, a FQ, half a yard whatever size is not the point the softness is :-)

so to make one you get an envelope and fill it with a bit of fabric and send it :-D

This is so true Nancy!

I had a lovely surprise squishie on Friday. Having received several from RCTQ friends for my birthday a couple of months ago, my husband apparently took note of how pleased I was. The squishie on Fri was from him. Purchased and mailed while he was out of town for a one day seminar. What a sweetie I have!

I guess the women in the LQS that he went into were very surprised to realize he even new what he was looking for! The owner of the shop had to explain to a couple of her other customers what a squishie was!

It really is amazing the joy that these little packages can bring. I'm hoping to have my living room finished early this next week so I can get back to my sewing room and rootle for the right pieces to send on. Pay it forward is such a lovely concept!

Happy Thanksgiving
