So...worked a deal with friends that, in exchange for them watching my children periodically, I would "help" them with minor house repairs and some sewing - with the idea that part of that would teaching friend how to do basic sewing and mending. Just installed a new toilet for them after having to use hospital grade degreaser to loosen the old bolts...thinking I should make them a "toilet" quilt...lol...just tossing the idea around in the empty cavern that was supposed hold my brain.
You will probably not get the joke in this one but old-fashioned outside toilet sheds in OZ are referred to as "dunnies" and there is a very famous song about "a red back (spider) on the toilet seat last night" - just thought you might like to see that toilets have featured on quilts already out here rofl
LOL it was nothing really...they bought the exact same one that we bought a few months ago (when DD dumped diaper wipes in the toilet then flushed...major flooding issues and we couldn't unclog it at all!!). The hard part was taking their old one out - rusted into place...sheesh!!! The new one isn't in exactly straight because, the rust was so bad a piece of the flange that sits on the floor from the drain pipe broke off!! SO, in order to get the main bolts to hold, it had to sit a little cockeyed..they were okay with that as long as it didn't leak...lol...it doesn't leak at all!!! I've installed toilets before, so it wasn't that hard for me. What was hard was, the new toilet went in the bathroom used by the 3 kids (2 boys and 1 girl)...the boys need serious aiming help....I think I doused my hands with disinfectant spray at least a dozen times (no, I didn't have my work gloves, but I *did* remember to bring a screwdriver and set of pliers!!)
First hting I did once I got home was wash my hair (I had to lie down on the floor) and scrub my hands and arms...but it's done and they are happy
well done, L. wow, that sounds easier than when we had to have a new toilet installed. the house had a concrete slab floor. the toilet was concreted into place, not something i'd attempt, we got a plumber in for that one. we like fixing things if we can but i'm finding lately its just easier to call someone. jeanne
