For my embroidery, I have a CD of designs giving the colours needed. However the colour codes are for Maderia (sp?) threads and I can't always find that brand. Does anyone know where I might obtain a thread colour code conversion chart? Example: if my pattern called for the Maderia thread m1000 (black) what would be the code for black for other thread brands? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance Catherine in Barrie

Lots of floss conversion charts here:

I didn't recognise all the thread names there but those I did know were all hand sewing threads I think. (??)
Great link though - thanks!
Try this site. Maybe you can print out the various charts since they are in pdf. format

they have a free online conversion service. You just need to register. I haven't used the thread conversion site but have used their lettering service and been happy with it. Donna inNWONtario
Neat site! Sure beats drawing monograms from scratch.

You have the CD...right? well if you have embroidery software or images of the designs on the CD why dont you just match the thread to the nearest colours you already have. Thats what I do and it makes the design much more individual. I never bother with conversion, if the colour looks great on the reel and it is near enough to what they use in the image I use it.
