What's your favourite meal??

I would love to hear what your favourite meal is.

I love:

A Salada (counted as two crips breads) Some grilled Mozarella cheese on top with paprika and garlic or chilli

Left over cheese grilled on top of cauliflower that has been cooked in the microwave.

Gosh and I thought this was one of us getting hungry! LOL.

Well might as well continue the topic.....I love Roast Pork - with yummy, salty, crispy crackling served with home made apple sauce, roast taters, cranberry sauce (yes I'm crazy) and all different sorts of vegies - exceptin' broad beans, brussel sprouts or carrots.

We'll save dessert for another time....

Yep, you've got to admit: for SPAM, it's a neat conversation-starter!! Who knows? Maybe it'll give us some ideas for dinner this week!

I love your description, Sharon ... I don't suppose you have a recipe to go with? Otherwise, it's not right nice of you ... makin' my mouth water and puttin' a taste for Roast Pork in my mouth without givin' me the means to HAVE some!! :)

One of my favorite meals is Paella ... seafood, rice, veggies, chorizo, seafood and spices (yep, I said seafood twice - I always put twice the seafood -usually mussels, YUM- in mine) mmmmmm ... maybe tomorrow night! :)

Anyone want the recipe? :)

Hugs!! Connie :)

My homemade chicken and dumplings. Yummy. Meat falling off the bones, dense, solid dumplings and lots and lots of thick gravy. Served with green beans, cranberry sauce and homemade buttermilk biscuits.

Either that, or the Chiles Rellenos plate at El Conquistidor in Waco, Texas. Oh my, to taste that heavenly stuff again.

Auugghhh!! Now I'm hungry AGAIN!!

Chicken n' Dumplin's is comfort food in our house ... same as Pinto Beans smotherin' corn bread. YUM-O!!

Hmm ... I don't have the makin's for Dumplin's (no chicken), but I DO have the makin's for a big plate of PB&CB!! :)

Hugs!! Connie :)

Oooh ... we're supposed to go to Texas next year - think I'll stop by and try some - it sounds YUMMY!! :)

That sounds so good - yum. My favourite (or one of them) is Chicken Parmesan with rice pilaf and caesar salad - I really think I could eat this every day.

LOL - no recipe for the roast pork, just make sure that the rind is scored nice 'n' even wth good deep cuts. Usin' your fingers rub some good (or not so good) olive oil over it and toss a good coating of salt over it. Rub it in and then if it doesn't look right, sprnkle on a tad more. Yes, I know all the health nuts will be squeain' but no worse than the porker that's going in the oven.(VBEG). I've also been known to sprnkle just a smidget of crushed garlic over it.

Actually another "snack" favourite is pita bread spread with good homemade (not from a store) garlic butter - chunky not crushed garlic, and mix in a heap of fresh grated parmesan cheese until you get a good thick paste. Cut the pita into shapes and pop in a 220C oven for about 4 minutes until crispy. Serve with sweet chilli cream cheese dip, or just eat on it's own...mmmmmmmmmmm yummmy

Ooooohhhh .... that *does* sound delicious ... I think I'll have to go visit my meat counter today!! DD and DH LOVE pork more than anyone I know!!

As to health nuts - well, we're not. The closest we get to bein' health nuts is that hubby drinks water all the time. We do go through "phases" of tryin' to eat healthier, but that usually takes the form of tryin' to cut down on eatin' fast food and cuttin' back on gorgin' on candy. Since we have candy leftover from Halloweenie, we won't be cuttin' back on sweets anytime soon! :)

Mmmm ... that sounds yummy, too ... okay, so now I've got 5lbs (?) of pork roast, garlic, and a wedge of parmesan cheese on the grocery list (we already have pita bread - don't know how to make the sweet chili cheese dip - I'll see what I can find recipe-wise for that online!!)!! :)

We often do olive oil infused with rosemary, garlic, thyme, oregano, and a few other herbs (that I can't remember off-hand - if'n you're interested, I'll pull out my recipe "journal" - where I collect recipes like the ones you just gave me!) - then you let them sit and "ferment" for a few days in a sealed bottle. Pour it into a dish with a tad more olive oil and then dip some nice crusty bread in it! It's great for casual get-togethers ....

Thanks!! And hugs, too!! Connie :)

If this shows up twice I'm sorry, its Googles fault

Connie sweet chili cheese dip is available in *all* of our supermarkets at the moment

Homemade is really easy... place cream cheese on a plate and pour your favourite sweet chilli sauce over the top...... is that simple or what ?

sweet chili sauce over philly cream cheese is what we've got in the shop here. turn the whole thing upside down in a bowl and the chili sauce rolls off the top, mmmmmmmmmm. great with various crackers, chips or vegetable sticks. probly the same thing over in oz. sweet chili sauce is nothing like chili. its a thai condiment, well its called that anyhow. i put it on sandwiches, with various meats (ham, pork roast, chicken) some folks like dipping hot chips aka french fries in it rather than ketchup or mayo. has a multitude of uses around here. :) scruuuuuuuuummy!!! glad its nearly dinner time here cuz now i'm really getting hungry in the south pacific, jeanne

Glad you clarified that chilli sauce bit Jeanne, never thought about 'American Chili" coz it's just not done 'downunder'.

Now you just need to find a photo to explain it :-)

Foods are pretty much the same here as NZ although I know that there are some lollies/ bar type things that you have that we don't. And we don't do whitebait fritters ( even the kids wouldn't eat that)

Take one package Philladelphia Cream Cheese (from the refrigerator cabinet in your supermarket - any other brand will do). De-package it ie take it out of the pacakage and put on a round serving plate (a bread and butter plate will do in a pinch). So you should have a lump of cream cheese sitting on a flat plate okay? LOL. Now pour sweet chilli sauce all over the top - about 1/4 cup willl do. Dip a cracker in - make sure you get cream cheese and chilli sauce together. Insert into mouth. Mmmmmmmmmm yummy. All done. I mix sweet chilli sauce with sour cream and use as a form of mayo on wraps/sandwiches/salads etc. Tastes just sooooo yummy.

I guess the part I'm havin' a problem with is the SWEET chili sauce ... Sweet?? How?? All the chili sauce I've got access to is spicy (so spicy you're makin' spit for DAYS).

So how is it sweet? Do you know what kind of peppers are in it?

Sorry for the dumb-o questions ... I'm just wonderin' if what I call so-spicy-it-hurts, you're callin' SWEET. I am a wuss - no doubt 'bout that.

Hugs!! Connie :)

Connie sweet chilli cream cheese dip is available at *all* of our supermarkets at the moment. An easy homemade alternative is a block of cream cheese with your favourite sweet chilli sauce poured over the top. It is yummy :-)

Check out your local Asian Grocery store, or the asian food section in your local supermarket. You'll find it next to all the other sauces such as plum, sweet and sour, hoi sin, etc. it's yummy - got a kick but really easy to eat. Try mixing some with sour cream - great to dob on baked taters.

I've never tried Asian sweet chili sauce with cream cheese (but *I've got a jar of the stuff -- yum indeed ) but I love jalapeno jelly on cream cheese with a good cracker and a lovely glass of something not for the under 21 crowd.

Sunny Oh, if you've never had jalapeno jelly, check the jelly section. Put it on beef, chicken, whatever. The stuff is so good.
