Where is everyone tonight?

It's not often that there are no posts at all for a period of an hour or so......It's 8:30 pm here...where is everyone?

I actually got to put borders on a baby quilt today.....usually I am at the long arm - working. It was nice bonding with my dsm today....I miss it!

Maybe everyone is off quilting in their warm, snuggly homes.....we actually have a fire tonight...the 4-legged girls love it!

We were busy today. Decorating the outdoor trees.. hanging lights. I did 5 loads of laundry. Cleaned out a long time needed closet. Swept the first floor. Did a little online shopping. Haven't sat down at my sewing machine for weeks. I have a baby quilt (the baby is here!) that needs cut out! I need to get on it! ASAP

Are you kidding? I got the 'hard part' of a Wounded Warriors quilt done. Those blocks are sashed and on point. Getting all of the outside edges true and square was a tax on my brain. I helped a friend make choices and survive the trauma of creating a dazzling corset quilt. I put the borders on a homespun plaids quilt. Other than that? Nothing much. Polly

I took a break from the gotta-do list and finished a challenge PP block and now working on a PP BOM block. Hopefully tomorrow I will get out the Christmas decorations and start on the motel lobby. Don't think I'll decorate the apartment other than maybe tack up a holiday quilt top or panel.

Polly, tell us more about this 'dazzling corset quilt'! It's 4 a.m. and I can't sleep- maybe I read that wrong???

No, Leslie, you didn't read it wrong. The quilt, I think is from a quilt magazine from the last couple of years. The corsets are on old-timey dressmaker forms. (The forms are very plain, not nearly so terrific as your new treasure). The corsets are much like those worn by saloon ladies in the cowboy movies. It would be quite an understatement to say they're embellished. My favorite is the one done in leopard print; laced up the front with black leather. The form is wearing a bones necklace and the bodice is trimmed in wee little pom-poms of leopard spots. I will ask about the pattern when she comes by for Show and Tell if you like. Polly

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I don't want JUST the pattern- we ALL want to see a picture of this fantastic quilt. It must be amazing!!! And..... shame on you for describing such a scandalous quilt on a Sunday morning! LOL

I've noticed that too.

Wow, it's early Sunday morning now where I am -- hardly any posts since I shut down to go to sleep last night.

I've been working on an embroidered clutch purse from A Stitch and A Half for my daughter, but I got to the last step - the lace panel and I can't understand the directions. Grrr. I'll have to figure something out about how to attach it. It was not an inexpensive pattern and I've emailed them but no response yet. Anyone ever do those?

I've been busy too.... Made and finished a mini quilt for a guild challenge. Decorated 12 mini wreaths (made from cutting 9' garlands into 6 pieces, joining the cut ends together.) and one 18" wreath for the same guild party. (Mini wreaths will be table centerpieces and door prizes. Big wreath is a door prize.) Just finished making up a batch of Sweet Potatoes, Apples and Cranberries and a batch of Scalloped Corn for potluck party this afternoon. Have been going through fabric and other stuff that DH put into plastic bins. It is going but not quickly. And the fabric will need at least one more "go-through" before it is finally in the bins it needs to be in. This go round is just sorting quilting/garment/home dec/SCA garb, then the different types will need to be further sorted.... especially the quilting fabric into size/color bins. And some will be/is going into "distribute somewhere else" piles too.

A week from tomorrow (Dec. 10) I have a Social Security appointment with a psychologist.... so positive thoughts there means a possible, hopefully positive, ruling by the end of the year. Not counting on it, anticipating a denial and having to appeal, but we can hope.

Need to finish moving stuff in the front room so I can figure out how long I can make the Tin Lizzie set up. The machine and frame are here.... but I haven't even opened the boxes. And that is something I really want to do. But have to do other stuff before I can start there.

New mixer arrived, need to double check the old one and decide what to do with it. sigh.

And now I am going to go see what is happening with kittens in the other room......

A small bit of advice- when you see the SS doc tell him all the sad/awful/frightening things you've been experiencing- financial, emotional, hubby's troubles and employment woes, lack of insurance, a death in the family, pain, brain fog, difficulties doing every day things like housekeeping, cooking, not being able to sew which is your relaxing time, stress, etc. Really unload on him/her. If you cry hysterically and pace around the room wringing your hands then all the better. This is NOT the time to be tough and act like a brave little soldier- let it ALL out. It will be to your benefit and it's all the truth. This is a biggie and you want to impress the doc- or rather *not* impress the doc???

I wish you the very best of luck.

DH and I were out for the evening, Laurie. However, before we left, I managed to sew all of the blocks together into diagonal rows for my Northwind quilt. I hope to sew the rows together today, then take a photo of it to import into either Quilt Pro or EQ6 and play with the outer borders a bit. :)

Howdy!

We were at his company Holiday Party over in Dallas, Fairmont Hotel (a lovely place showing its age):

Good eats & decent drinks. For Pat in Va: there was this caterer's waitress walking by ourtable w/ a tray full of some pretty, chocolatey-looking dessert,so I followed her; Oh MY!!!!! The deeper I dug into that dish, the better it got. It started w/ 2 large slabs of chocolate barkstuck into the top of this big martini glass, then a big plop ofchocolate pudding (I don't usually like pudding but I will makeexceptions ) w/ some chocolate truffle pieces hidden in there, and at the heart of the dish a slurp of perfect chocolate sauce,w/ more pudding and truffle on the way to the bottom. OMGoodness! Also had a smallish piece of chocolate mousse yule log cake;a balanced diet: chocolate in each hand! ;-D Later I ate a small, very healthy dinner (buffet: be your own boss),and did not drive home. Btw, seldom do they carry really good, goldrum at these bars, but that's okay, the regular stuff will do just fine. I was awake enough when we got home to do a little quilting while wewatched a movie to unwind from the drive home from Dallas. As parties go, it was okay, kind of boring (same people I didn't knowlast year whose names I don't remember this year ) but the price wasright and the date was fine. ;-) R/Sandy-- balmy & warm == what happened to winter?!!!?

Taking into account the time difference on the coasts, I would have to say that DH and I were being rather rudely and startingly awakened by our house alarm going off. First the little chime that goes off whenever the door is opened, followed by the VERY loud warning system (Intruder, LEAVE the premises!). Needless to say, he went flying down the stairs, I checked the kids, grabbing the louisville slugger on the way down the stairs after him, tossed the bat to him as i grabbed the phone to call the cops, ran back up to tell the kids to stay calm while talking to police, clicked over to answer alarm monitoring station and tell them we didn't set it off, to get the cops here faster, back to 911 dispatcher, and so on. Fortunately, there was a police officer parked a little ways from the house (hoping to catch speeders) and so it didn't take long for him to get to our house. He checked all around the house before coming to the door - waking our neighbors up as well (how they slept through the warning system is beyond me, but they said it was the police radio that woke them up). We will be having a diagnostic run on the system tomorrow or Tuesday because NONE of the doors were tampered with at all!! too strange. DH "slept" on one of the couches downstairs, DD went to sleep with me, and DS said he was big enough to go back to his own bed. However, with very little sleep, we still had a full day to put in today - DH and DS raked leaves, I cleaned and got the tree set up, we destressed with the annual leaf pile jump, then calmed down with decoration time....now the boys are at AWANA and DD is in her room...I'm trying to finish up some things that I have left undone for WAY too long, then I'm off ot bed as well.

SO that's why I wasn't posting
