OK, so where is everyone and what are you doing tonight?

It's been so quiet in here today! I'm trying to work on my new niece's album. I also had a great time scrapbook shopping today. One of the nicest scrapbook stores is having a big sale to make room for all the new stuff from the Summer CHA show. Everything, and I mean everything is 40% off except the quicKuts and these guys always have the latest. I had to be good, but I may just drive the 25 miles back to St Pete tomorrow and see what else I can buy.

LOL... that reminds me of me the other day. I had a doc's appointment on Tuesday morning and of course when I arrived the dr was running behind so I went in the the newsagent to have a squiz at their scrappin supplies. They are usually very expensive, but they do have lovely things. I being the scrooge that I am... lol, only picked up a few items that I thought were "must haves!!" I got to the counter and was surprised when the lady told me it came to $24. I must have had my mouth agape or something, cos she said "oh it's all 50% off" "For how long" came my excited reply.... "til it all goes, we're not re-stocking nobody does scrapbooking obviously cos it doesn't sell!!" OMG, it's because their prices are so high that nobody would buy them.... lol. Anyhow, I told her I'd be back.

True to my word, I went to the doc's, then rang DH to tell him about the sale. Of course he said "go for it, it's not everyday they're on sale and you haven't bought yourself anything for so long"..... so I went back to the shop and spent a further $70!~ Stickers, Embellishments, gorgeous papers, cardstock, slides etc etc. I really spoilt myself.

I of course, have told Em, and my Mum and Grandma about the sale too. Em is going up tomorrow morning to have a look, and I'm going to go back on pay day next week to see if there is anything else I can scrape up!!

I love sales..... I don't go very often, but I do love a bargain!! luv Cec...xxx

I've noticed it has been quiet here for the last few weeks. Everyone must be enjoying their summer and taking lots of pictures to scrap later!

Been off and on the internet since about 230pm when i awoke from a l o n g and wonderful sleep. Actually sleeping to avoid son and hubby who have anoid me to no end this particular few days. I got up and hubby left to do cows. When he came home we went to eat at our local steakhouse. Talked to Dave a bit , he was almost home when i got to return the phone call to him. Trying to plann on going up to see him next week. Aug 2nd, Zendalina will be 1 yr old and we are planning a party for her on Aug 5th. Come and go of course. A cake and a small cake for her to frolick in for our cameras. Now I am back home from dinner and catching up on emails. Cleaning and organizing things a bit each day each chance I get.

What a sale! I'd have to go back again, too. I have not had a chance to do much scrappin lately. The daycare has been so busy with summer activities. I did get a chance to get out to the county fair to see the judged adult entries. I got a reserve division champion on my scrapbook. It was my Christmas album that I had taken in for judging. Now I have to go back tonight with the camera and take pictures of my project on display and those of DD's and DS's so we can scrap our ribbons. I'm hoping to use part of the weekend to get some more kits together for my trip to Gatlinburg. Sandy

I drove all the way back around Tampa Bay again and dropped some more money, bad me. It's like being in a candy store!

It's simply too hot here to do much of anything! We are setting records for the heat here. It was 110 degrees in our backyard yesterday and it only got up to 107 today! I've been trying to get some re-organizing done. I want to use my rubber stamps but they have become difficult to get to so I did some re-arranging of papers and iris carts and they are now within easy reach. If I can't get to it easily then I don't look for it or use it. I also painted a doll I'm working on. She is kinda like an art doll. I made her several months ago and she has been sitting on the shelf trying to talk to me. Tonight I walked by her and she whispered, "paint me....paint me.....paint me....."; so I sat down and painted her. I have some details to work on but will have to wait until the paint is dry. Afterwards she will set until she tells me what she wants done next.

She sounds like an awesome doll in more ways than one! I can't wait till she says, "share me with RCS...share me with RCS" .

Baseball season is now over! Our youngest DS's team came in 2nd in the final tournament. YAY team! I can breathe now for a couple of weeks before football practices start. I was on the phone today with three different people booking 2 wedding cake orders and a 50th birthday party cake for August and Sept. Just think what I can do with that extra money! HEHEHE!!!

I did manage to put some finished pages into books, and I did get to scrap three pages two days ago, and I made a card yesterday. I did some NSSSF shopping today at Hobby Lobby.*wink wink!! They had what was left of their Sizzix inventory in their clearance section. Embossing folders for $3 each, and yellow dies for $3. I got one of each, a few fibers cards for$1.23 each and they had inks and stamps on sale for 50% off.. I only got some white pigment ink. I was really really good...honest!

I've been busy trying to not send my children to Jesus early. LOL They've really pushed it this week. Used DD's satin lined trashcan as a potty on Monday!!! (The $30 trashcan was a gift from MIL to DD when we moved.) When does school start again? It's been so hot lately that playing outside is almost out of the question. Try explaining that to a 5 yr old and almost 8 yr old! We have 3 older kids (a brother, sister, and their cousin) from church with us this weekend while our 2 are at MIL's. Just to give the 3 others a fun weekend away from their family. We're just hanging out, playing video games, watched a movie last night, etc.

I played with my reinkers last night and dyed a piece of grosgrain ribbon. It was cool! I ordered a set of 12 reinkers from Stampin' Up yesterday, along with some fibers. Kenda, guess what we'll be doing for stamp camp? LOL I'm hoping I can get a little scrapping done while my 2 are at MIL's. We'll see! I'm going to see if the girls here this weekend want to alter a purse tin. :-) I've been trying to find the pictures of the two teacher paper bag albums I did...what....2, 3 months ago? LOL Once I find them, I'll get them uploaded. I need to start planning my Mexico trip album, too. Definately going to need more paper. LOL

Good for you! You definately needed that. I'm not one for running to sales, but if it's scrapbook supplies, it's a different story. LOL

I know what you mean about the heat! I can handle the heat, it's the darn humidity that's miserable. I can't wait to see your new doll. I've liked all your art dolls you've made!

Seems like it's a good time for scrapbook sales all around the world! I have not been scrapping for a while, but today when I dropped into our local book shop (which has a huge craft department), they had a clearance sale on all scrapbooking stuff - 50% off! I only had a few minutes to spare, so I grabbed 20 sheets of paper and a few packets of ribbon, but I'm returning tomorrow for a propper shop! I know I'm blowing the budget this month - but I can't let this one pass :)

Hello Judy,

Where is South Africa do you live? It is great to hear that there are scrapbook supplies available and on sale too! Could you tell me which shops stock scrapbook supplies? It would be so interesting to hear about scrapbooking in SA. (You can email me if you like.)

I live in London at the moment and scrapbooking is just beginning to take off here. There are a lot of online shops here - but normally I cannot get everything I want in one online shop and have to pay more postage charges. There are some craft shops, mostly outside London - where things are often sold above the recommended retail price. Though recenly - in the last 3 months or so - at least 4 large supermarkets and bookshops started selling basic scrapbooking supplies - it is like going to your local Pick 'n Pay to get your album and Xyron refills!

I lived in Cape Town for 8 years when I was in my twenties (and those were the best years of my life!). I am just starting to gather all the photos from that time, travelling around Southern Africa, and most of them are slides so I have to scan them with a slide scanner first. They are so well taken with the atmosphere of the places coming through the photos - just looking at the slides, I almost feel like I am there again. (I wish almost every day I could move back but it is impossible at the moment...)

One of the best things I love about South Africa is the wide open spaces and the dry semi-desert landscapes. Once, we were driving to Etosha and as we were leaving Cape Town my mother asked for directions. The answer was: turn left onto N7 and then drive straight for 1700km...

Hi Klara

Sorry for only replying now....I only visit the ng on weekends and lately not too often, unfortunately.

I live in Cape Town (Bellville area) and have been here for 10 years now. We moved from the Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth) for better work opportunities.

I had to laugh at those directions your Mom got - that would be about right! To reach Etosha you just keep straight on with the West Coast Road (N7) untill you hit the Namibian border. :))

Scrapbooking is actually cooling down a bit over here. There was quite a "craze" about a year ago and scrapbook shops sprang up everywhere. Even the Pick 'n Pay's and Checkers supermarkets stocks scrapbook stuff, although not of the best quality. We have a few huge scrapbook shops here in Cape Town where you can get all the latest stuff - the shop owners travel to the states and oz regularly to stock up on new trends and products. But we also have a few local manufacturers of papers and embelishments, which is really cool, because they are way cheaper than the imported stuff and sometimes more "relevant" to our surrounds.

Currently we have 1 monthly and 1 bi-monthly local magazine, which is also cool, because they have a totally different "flavour" from the overseas mags. If you really want to "shop till you drop" - Johannesburg is the place to be. Stacks of scrapbook and art shops there - we actually plany to take a drive up there sometime - but for now - I've shopped enough for a while!

When did you stay in SA? Of course we are "proudly South African" - you know how "braggy" South Africans can be! LOL

Nice to have met you!

Are you lucky! Boy I love a good sale too! I went to a nice crop last night at this scrapbook store I like and they had some good deals on things so I got a little more for the embellishment box. I was wondering is it just embellishments or does anyone put in rubber stamps as well? From time to time I see a deal on them...just was wondering. Well my guy and I are thinking about going to a movie tonight. Thinking of seeing that new Oman movie. Is it worthwhile seeing? It was between that and RV. Well everybody have a great evening!
