What project/projects are you currently working on?

I have been making cards, I am giving some lunch pail type cans as Christmas gifts this year so I need lots of cards. I'm nearly done. Just a few more should get it. I have done some scrappin as well. I took a box to work with our pet pictures and some papers/embellishments to work on my pet scrapbook when I have the time. I am taking (tomorrow) to work tomorrow Christmas pictures from the last 3 years, the canoe trip we took 2 years ago, DS#1's summer military camp he attended last summer. I am hoping that we will have a few quiet minutes here and there so I can work on these things.

I did some minor reorganizing to make things easier to get to. I'm pretty organized as it is, but needed to have easier access to somethings I am using more often right now. DS #1 and I redid the masterbathroom Tuesday thru Thursday afternoon. Tore everything out, except the shower stall it we weren't taking it out. I've posted pictures. I will scan and post pictures of the layouts I've done when I have the time. Things are so busy around here!

I have been gathering things to make some fabric ATC's. I am anxious to try them, if they turn out I'd like to participate in a swap.

So in summery, currently working on:

  1. cards for gifts
  2. SB pages from at least 3 years ago
  3. Fabric ATC's
  4. Not going crazy! (where's the chocolate??)

I'm getting ready to start a travel album for my dad, who was just here for 2 weeks that included his 85th birthday. He discovered that despite vision trouble (macular deneration), he can fly by himself. Now there's no stopping him! LOL

In fact, he & his soon-to-be 80 year old brother leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow with a church group for Biloxi, MS to work on a hurricane damaged home for a week.

Am trying to decide whether to do the part about his time out here in a hurry so I can ship it off next week to arrive in time for the 4th of July celebration for the two of them (to be followed later by other recent travels) or whether to wait & send it all later. He says he's coming back this winter, but do I want to wait that long? If I don't, I won't get to see him look at it for the first time (won't if I get it there by the 4th of July, either, but that's a little different.

Luckily, all the photos from this trip are digital, so I don't have to spend time scanning.

Decisions, decisions.

Just finished a photo book for my dad. I scanned in pictures that from my grandma that date to the early 40's. The book came to 38 pages and had about

100 pics in it. Scanning old pics is not easy. I hope to make up some more photo books for Christmas presents for my sisters and cousins this year, and be able to give them all CDs of the scanned pics. Right now I have pics all over my desk, so hopefully I can finish the scanning part in another couple of weeks. If it wasn't so cost prohibitive, I'd pay to have someone do this part! Anyways, mailed the photo book today--his birthday is on Monday so we'll see if he likes it. Then just need to get the pics put in an album and give everything back to dad for safe keeping. Its my new year's resolution to finish this by Christmas, so we'll see. I can see some late nights in November with this one!

I just did a 5k this morning with a friend whose never participated in a walk for any cause before. I bought a little 4x6 book and plan to scrap a short little album for her tomorrow. I went to Kinkos and color photocopied the route map and the race number, and I took pictures of her during the walk. She's doing Weight Watchers and after a month has already lost 17 pounds. She was so excited this morning (despite rain even!) that it was fun to do, even though we got up at 6 am on a Saturday.

I'm also working on my running scrapbook. I'm up to my first 10 mile race, so its going well. Only 4-5 more races to scrap and I'm caught up. Just one more crop night I think.

And I decided to take those official pictures and stuff of my nieces and nephews and put them in an official album (not with their million other pics I take of them, but the real shots mom and dads take them to the photo studio for). I'm making albums of each of my sister's families. I started with my twin's family and its actually going good, and faster than I thought. Heck, I'm already through her second kid being born. Then I stopped because I realized I should put their wedding pictures in their too . . . I think one more scrap night and I'll have that one done.

I just got two new alphabet sets off ebay for my Sidekick and have been messing around with them. They should come in handy as I go forward with my projects. Those little alphabets are addicting!

All that plus still training for a marathon this fall (first weekend in October). I've been following a blog from a writer in the local paper who just did his first marathon, and I need to start journaling this progress (process?). I'd also like to reiterate something someone posted a while back-scrapyourtrip has some stuff that no one else seems to have, particularly for sports pages. They have the largest selection of running stuff I've seen anywhere.

Okay, to bed now. I need to run 14 miles in the morning and I need to finish that mini-album for my friend.

Nite! Kathy

Garden album from when we put in the new raised boxes to last years crop. I have album itself made, photos chosen and cropped and now I am just trying to decide what to do next. I take my time and don't get in a hurry. It can take me a month or longer to get something done.

I know what you mean Robert. Some projects have a timeline of their own and you seem to have no control over it. :)

Great project, Kathy! Have had some "challenging" old photos to scan, too. It's a great sense of accomplishment, tho, when you get an album of old pics done & sent out (especially to more than one person) so you have the peace of mind of knowing that if anything happens to the original photos, the images are not lost forever.

Do you have a source for archival safe materials? If not, you might want to check out

formatting link
I get all of my archival pages there (they have a nice range of sizes) as well as binders wide enough so that standard sheet protectors (which I use for my digital albums) don't stick out on the side. I have no affiliation with them other than using their products for my personal use. If anyone has other good sources, please share!

ROFL! Been there, done that!!!!

Good luck with your projcts, Kathy.

I just got a template for decorating those lunchbox like tins so I am going to play with them since I bought a half dozen on them the last time CE had them on sale LOL. I also got the small flirty purse template and got tired of waiting for the bigger template (it is backordered) so I enlarged it on the copier and attached it to chipboard so tomorrow I am going to try and make a red hat flirty purse album to put the photos from my girlfriends 50th birthday in.

Kathy- you have inspired me! I have not been feeling like scrapping any of the pictures I have, so I am going to scrap all of those portraits of my kids! And congrats to you on the running...you are really "going the distance" so to speak...is running something you have always done, or is it something you have built up to?

Thanks for the tips Alicia. I'll definitely check them out. I have a lot bought for this project already. But I keep changing my mind on what I want to do with the pics. Since most are 2x3, I think I'm going to use photo corners and set them on 4 x 6 pages and slide them into a 4x6 book that has room on the side for journaling. I've got notes all over the place for the stories and identifying the people in these pics-->at least I was able to do that over a 2 weekend period with my dad and great uncle. Kathy

Thanks for the nice comments Arlene. I had all these pictures of my nieces and nephews (plus birth announcements and other official things like that) that I've never been sure of what to do with. That and some photo corners and the book went together very fast. Better than stacking the pics up in frames, which is what I've been doing (you know, put the current one on top, leave all the other ones in there too).

I only started running 3 1/2 years ago, to get in shape for a hike my boyfriend wanted to do. Turns out I like to do it. I've lost 30 pounds over these 3 years and I just got back from my second 14 mile run this year. (This is the farthest I've run so far-ever.) I want to do a marathon because, okay this might sound stupid, but you get a medal when you finish and ultimately I want to do the DisneyWorld one because you get a cool Mickey Mouse medal. I just didn't want that one to be my first marathon, so I signed up to do this one in the twin cities (Minneapols/St. Paul) this fall. I mean, when else in your adult life do you have a shot at a medal? And, as it turns out, the farther the distance I run, the better I'm doing. Must be that tenacity to finish projects (that is definately from years of crafting!). My boyfriend has tagged along to races and taken photos and I'm scrapping them. Its hard, because its about yourself and it is very personal at times. It might be one I won't let others see, you know? Again, thanks for the kind words, and encouragement. It helps tons. Kathy

I've been making anniversary party invitations. I've made about 30 and need to make about 6 more. I'm also getting background pages together for the album that will be created when the guests return their journal cards (sent with the invitation) and, hopefully, a photo. The party itself will then follow those pages.

I'm also working on my son's chronological album, year 2002.

Wow! Everybody is definately in a creative streak. As for me, I have projects in mind that I want to start ASAP. (Hopefully next week!)

I've been wanting to do sister albums for my sis & sis-in-law. I haven't started on them because I just don't have the pictures I want. But Kenda and her discussion of her brother/niece album gave me an idea. Rather than waiting until I have the right pics, I'm going to put a mat on the page, with a short explanation of what kind of pic, i.e., "Auntie Di with kids", etc. So now that I have that settled, my plan is to have them done for Christmas.

I can't wait to get started on our Mexico album! With as much pics and journaling as we'll have, it's definately going to be a 12 x 12. Definately going to need more paper though. LOL

I also need to get started on DH's cousin's ABC book for her baby. The baby is due in November, and she's supposed to find out if it's a boy or girl this month, or was that next month? I can't remember. But as soon as I know, I'm starting on it. I have both girl & boy charms, pink & blue alpha brads, and a boy/girl stamp set. So it's just a matter of finding out if it's a boy or girl. Oh...and deciding on my ABC parts from all the useful links from Lynne.

Of course, I also have cards I want to do. My goal is to be able to send/give cards at the drop of a hat. Haven't done that lately. LOL Except for the baby card I made for a gal at church. No baby yet, but the doctor didn't think she would make it through the weekend without going into labor. We're all waiting for this little one, and not very patiently, either. LOL But DH picked up a little bitty Mexican dress in Juarez for this little one and we wanted her to have it to wear when she arrives. So I just HAD to make a card! (Darn...I didn't want to make a card. It was rough taking time out from planning and unpacking to do that. LOL)

Of course, I have some major unpacking to do in this house. The kids' dressers are still in the hallway. LOL Plus some major reorganization of my craft room, and the kids' rooms. So much to do, so little time!

I'm in awe that you do marathons, that is something I don't think I could ever do as I don't have the decipline to train.
