If you don't have the Harriet Hargrave book on Machine quilting you might want to buy that. It is a lot of help. I bet you can get an older copy on Half.com for a good price.

Post a note at the shop - see if there is any interest in get- togethers. Maybe you can get a group going, and take turns helping each other out?

Basting friends don't have to be quilters or even sewers. Our group at church had a dedicated group of volunteers that only basted. Most of our quilts were queen size. We would put two or three eight foot folding tables side by side. We have extensions for the legs made from PVC pipe. (One pipe for each leg but be sure all pipes are cut the same length. Slip the pipe over the end of the leg. The cross bar between the legs on each end would stop the pipe. It doesn't sound stable but was very sturdy.)
