Another "top 5"

For storage (I'm working on a better system) I have a 4 drawer tote. Draw 1 is glue and adhesive and eyelets (I store my eyelets in empty film containers and on the outside of the container I write what is inside). Draw 2 is my die cuts (then my die cuts are in individual folders (something similar to what you would store coupons in but it doesn't have the deparments) again on the outside I write whats inside and they are sorted by theme (birthday, christmas, misc. holidays, baby etc.). draw 3 stickers (no order - need better system). Draw three is my blank cards and envelopes. Draw four is my stamps and ink pads. Also I am working on sorting stamps by theme and keeping them in individual totes (Shoe tote box).

For my stencils I have all of those in a binder.

And the new thing I started is when I find a LO or card idea instead of putting it in my favorites folder and forgetting about it I print it out and punch holes it and and keep it in a binder my theme ideas.

My 8x10 paper is a cube with 12 slots divded by theme (christmas, school days, angels, pets, wedding, summer/vacation, Birthday etc.) I got that at Sams club I believe for $16-$20. I'm looking for a solution for my 12x12 paper right now its in a tote.

Well, currently, my stuff is stored/organized the following...

  1. shelves for my paper/cardstock, stamps, pads, etc (LOTS of shelves!)
  2. this nifty organizer SS Dave gave me for Christmas. it has 10 little flip-top plastic containers that I've sorted loose charms, brads, tags, buttons in.
  3. a small tool box for my punchies & diecuts from swaps
  4. an oblong, flat, see-through, rubbermaid type container for various embellishments.
  5. a 4-drawer old dressing table with various assundrious stamping/scrapping supplies & tools
  6. a small rubbermaid tote for ribbon & lace...all tangled up EEK!
  7. then there's the 3 other medium rubbermaid totes with other various crafting stuffs

But...my ideal would be

  1. some racks or thin shelves I can put on the current shelves to actually organize my paper/cardstock
  2. one of the stamp pad caddies from Stampin' Up for my stamp pads
  3. a filing cabinet (or something similar) to file/sort all my stickers and sheets of die cuts
  4. a ribbon container...if they make such things. I have to dig for ribbon right now, and it's more like an excavation than 'looking'. LOL I either have too much ribbon and lace, or the container is too small, and surely I don't have too much ribbon and lace!
  5. can i ask for a bigger working surface? LOL

Oh I like the look of that. What a great area for crafting.

Our neighbors about a block away have a small cottage like that. It is the cutest thing! She did a lot of genealogy research and wrote books - it was where she worked so she could be alone to concentrate on hr work. I'd probably never come out except to stock up..... Sandy

Another good thread! I recently (this winter) got my scraproom set up. It still needs major organization. Hopefully I'll get some pointers reading this thread. I'll share what I have that works for me.

1~ pencil boxes (I have a large one that all of my adhesives go in [asst sizes of zig pens, hermie dots, three diff sizes photo tabs, etc]. Two small boxes, one for pens that's stuffed as full as can be, and one w/ all of my spools of wire and wire cutters.)

2~ bead containers (I have the half moon one w/ all the diff compartments and it's full of punchies, the majority of which came from swaps. I also have the round stack kind. They're clear and twist onto each other making a tower. The big one I have large punchies in and the skinny ones I have eyelets, beads, stones, etc in.)

3~ expandable file case, the kind w/ 20+ sections (I use this for all of my stickers. I just label each section and go right to whatever I'm working on.)

4~ iris carts, of course (I have a tall one w/ six drawers [three deep, three shallow]. One holds my coluzzle dies and accessories. One all my fibers, which are in dyer need of some smart organizing. One has my pencil boxes and bead conts. One is packed to the brim w/ my punches. A couple are junk drawers that I barely remember what's in them, but could prolly use it or have been wondering where it was. lol I also have a couple of the small desktop ones. They're just full of "stuff" too.

5~ magazine holders (I have a few of these for my idea books and mags. They make everything appear a little neater. Just don't look in the drawers! lol)

Notice I didn't mention paper storage? I don't have any! Originally I was keepin it in one of those exp files. Didn't take long to outgrow that. I still have paper in it, but I also have stacks everywhere of what I'm still buying. After all, why would I stop buying!?! lol

Judy, it looks like a campers cottage. Will you have a porch? I could just see it full of flowers. We do have those over here. I've never ever heard them called a wendy house though. Potting shed I've heard. Maybe that's why I would have flower boxes and stuff, I'm more usd to seeing something like that in a large yard or garden. I think we just have a lot of names for the same thing and you have a single name. In grade school I had a friend that had a play house her dad built. It was just like this too, only child sized.

Marilyn, thanks for the webpage. I found it rather interesting. I've been wanting to see the Johnny Depp movie where he plays the Peter Pan author (can't remember what it's called).

Katrina, no, mine don't have a porch due to lack of space in our garden, but there is a huge amount of sizes, from what I call "dolls houses" for kids to play in, up to beach cottages folks over here use for holiday homes at the coast.

That Johnny Depp movie is called Return to Neverland, I think. I can't wait for it to be released over here!! He's my favorite actor....toooooooo gorgeous for words ;)

Judy, If I were on the commitee for those Oscars, Johnny would have won for every movie he has done! The man is talented!! He completely steals the show from everyone else in his movies. Did you see Ed Wood? Amazing! Benny and Joon ? He is probably, IMHO, the least appreciated artist around today. But his fans know ! Don't we? LOL

Sabrina, I could talk about this man for hours (thanks for starting this thread btw, but now it's a bit difficult to hide it from DH...hehhe). I've been a fan of Johnnys from the early eighties when he was acting in a TV show called 21 Jump Street! Remember that? The show was not that great, but I watched it just to see him! I find it so amusing now that all the teenage girls here in SA are just "discovering" Johnny and think his the best thing since sliced bread!

My favourite scene from Benny and Joon is where the bread gets toasted with an iron!!! lol The first movie I saw him, was Edward Scissorhands. I was very young when that came out, still saw it in the drive-in ...lol! Don't know if you guys still have those in the states. The other one of his movies that comes to mind is What is eating Gilbert Grape. I thought that was one of the saddest movies I ever saw. Oh and then Don Juan de Marco!!!! I thought that Marlon Brando also was great in that one. DH is a great Steven King fan, so when Secret Window was released last year, it was not that difficult to convince him to go and see it! *wg*.. Johnny just "makes" a movie for me. He always manage to do interesting roles that makes you think and his acting is so diverse! He was great in Sleepy Hollow too, which are worlds apart from say something like the Astronaut's Wife. I've read in some reviews that his British accent is flawless in Neverland! Can't wait to see that.

Oh, I loved What's eating Gilbert Grape!!! I thought Leonardo did an excellent job ,too. But is was a very sad movie. I can hardly wait for the Neverland movie to come on DVD. I will have to get that! LOL My dear Fred does not get enthusiastic about movies...his taste runs more toward Three Stooges ! LOL But he agrees that Pirates of the Caribbean is a great movie. One of my favorite lines in the movie is when Orlando say, "No fair, you cheated!" and Depp says "Pirate" LOL
