Any Card Makers?

I've been thinking about making some cards for some friends of mine. I've never ventured into cardmaking. Any hints on where to start??

I started makiing cards after attending a Close to my Heart demonstration. That is a company that sells rubber stamps and scrapbooking supplies. I could find a consultant in your area that could come and hold a gathering for you and your friends, or just teach you the basics.

Basically, I started with 8 1/2 X 11 cardstock, cut in half to make two cards, fold and decorate. Anything goes and it is so much fun.

Let me know if you want me to find you a consultant that can take you step by step through the process... Arleen in Ga Independant CTMH consultant

I'm doing cardmaking at the moment and this is what I've collected :)

Plain coloured card, both scored and unscored (the fold line), Embossing powder (I currently have gold, silver, clear, red, blue, green) Extra Fine Glitter (red, gold, green, black) Punches ( some corner punches and a few assorted ones) A few stamps (Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, and a few other assorted ones) Stamppads (black, gold, silver, bronze, only the black one is a big one) Assorted papers and card for punching and layering. Bits and pieces (some ribbon, glitter shapes, stickers and odds and ends)

I'm doing up Christmas cards, birthday and blank cards. So that's just what I have collected and use!

I've made my own cards for awhile now - asst. events and Christmas. There are 2 Becky Higgins card books that I reference all the time. My best advice is if you want to make a lot, don't make them too detailed - what looks so pretty may turn into a lot more work than you want!!

you can see some here...

Brandy, I just buy the cards and envelopes whenever I see them on sale and then just go with whatever strickes me. I use a lot of my pp on my cards and I like to use stamps and embossing...vellum...whatever you feel like experimenting with. I really do love sending my own original cards and from the feedback I get, people love to get them. some of my relatives have framed them! That pleases me,of course. I have made my Christmas cards for the last two years and I start doing it around Feb. I also make all occ. cards . I like to use the card kits from HOTP,as well.

Hi Brandy,

I have been making Christmas cards for several years now. I usually buy pre-made cards and envelopes from Michaels and then decide on a design. The card making usually ends up as a family project with DH and DD helping out. You can see some of my cards at:
