Finally found a use for...

Thank the high heavens! Months ago I read an article on mica and I bought some to experiment with. I rubber stamped a piece with a big swirly pattern and embossed it with Enchanted Gold. The piece turned out really pretty but I had nothing to use it for. I set it aside, tucked it into a spot with my stencils because I couldn't find anything like it to store it with and I didn't want it to break and it's now moved from one side of the country to the other.

I was working on my mothers scrapbook (of me actually, I'm redoing it to get it out of the magnetic pages) and I did a page of me singing in a Christmas pageant in preschool. I used a patterned background paper (cream with kind of a peppermint diagnal stripe pattern) and double matted the two images with red and green. I rubber stamped a big black music note directly on the paper but it kind of faded into the patterned paper. I put the mica piece over it with an eyelet and it's perfect! It balances the page but is still a faded embellisment so it doesn't compete with the photos and it brings a little highlight to the musical note.

I'm so happy to have finally found a use for this one embellishment that's been the bain of my organizing existence!

I have the same problem....a piece of mica that I look at every time I get my supplies out and can't quite figure out what to do with it. Thanks for the idea. Sandy in Southern Indiana

I've been trying to find mica to try. I guess I'll have to order some. Do you like using it?

I'd love to see what you've done Alex. And can you tell me what the difference is between Mica and a transparency? And if there is a difference, where did you get the mica?

Thanks,

Sounds really neat Alex! It's so nice when you find a use for something that you've been holding on to. :-) Do you have a pic you can point us to so we can see the layout?
