Fiskars border punch and embossing tool

On my way through the www I found something new (?) from Fiskars. It looks like a border punch and is supposed to emboss and punch at the same time. (

It's on the right side if you scroll down a little.) I couldn't find it on the fiskars website. Has anybody seen or used this tool yet? Susanne

I really like it. Never seen one before, but it would be great for heritage pages. I'll keep my eye out for one. Sandy

This doesn't look like a Fiskar's product. I did find more here:

I wish Fiskars made something like this. Its pretty cool. I jotted off a note to Fiskars about them. If they email me back, I'll post their response. Kathy

It IS a Fiskars! Here is the reply I received:

We do plan on releasing new punches. There will be some new ones in the states coming out the end of August/beginning of September.

The punches you are referring to though will not be available in the states until Jan./Feb. 2006.

Pleases feel free to contact me with any other questions.

Does Fiskars make anything like this:

It looks like a Fiskar's product, but it looks German only (from what I could find on the internet). I know Fiskars makes products in other countries. Is this one of them? Plans for releasing something like this in the US? (This site was posted on rec.crafts.scrapbooks.

So that means they are available in Germany but not in the US? OMG. And I always thought it takes years before we get all the stuff you already have. So can somebody then tell me why it is so hard to get any supplies over here?

Well, thanks for posting the email!

because the industry really started over here and its so expensive to export. Fiskars has factories over there so its cheaper for them...

If you want, I can always shop for you and send stuff over... I know alot of retailers that ship internationally... go to

she ships all over....

And I thought Fiskars is an americn brand, which of course doens't mean that they manufacture in the US. But I don't think the produce their products in Germany. That wouldn't be cheaper than in the US.

Thanks for your offer. The problem is always the cost for the shipping and handling. It's probably so much, that I can buy the more expensive supplies from the few german shops. But the main thing that I don't like is that I can't look at the supplies or even touch them before I buy them. It's always hard to decide by having just looked at a small picture...

How right you are Susanne! Have they started having scrapbook expositions of any kind over there? They are a great way to get to see all sorts of products and if you are the one organizing it to make a little cash!

I haven't heard of any exposittions.

But my local craft store had it's first scrapping class today. At least the first I know of. I didn't go since the lady, who usually is not very friendly, couldn't tell me what they are going to do and they didn't reply to my email yet. Oh well, I decided I could spend my money on books and they might be more helpful so I ordered two today. "Scrapbooking: 100 Techniques with 25 Projects Plus a Swipefile of Motifs and Mottoes" from Sarah Beaman and "Scrapbooking Family Heritage" from Creating Keepsakes.

I hope they are any good.

I am sorry to hear that the lady at the craft store is so bad at taking care of customers. Truth be told you often hear stories like that and then next thing you know the store is out of business! Is this lady the owner? I am glad that you got some books and that you'll be able to look at those. With everything available out there these days, most people's first layouts look so much better than mine did!

Please let us know what you think of the books once you've had a chance to look at them!

I'm not sure if the lady is the owner but I think so. But most times she's not alone in the store, so I hoped somebody else would be responsible for answering the emails :) No answer so far... But even though the lady isn't very friendly I don't hope they will go out of business since it's my only local source of supplies. I haven't bought anything at that shop yet because I would rather give my money to someone else (any webshop) but at least I can have a look at some stuff.

I'll let you all know about the books. But amazone doens't ship then very soon. Have to wait at least till the 26th.
