I took your advice on buying the Magic Scraps double-sided adhesive and gave it a try on the paper Christmas decorating project I'm working on. There were a number of things to consider specific to this project which is filling in an
8.5 x 11 sheet of paper with a coloring book-like stained glass image on it with glitter. Most of the areas on the paper are irregular and contain designs small and tapered in areas.
The Magic Scraps double-sided adhesive worked with the glitter just as I had hoped, however the sheer amount of hand-work required to fill in the space to be glittered was daunting for me and tedious at times. You have to certainly be adroit with scissors and buy the large and small widths of adhesive to make it work. What I can do with glue that yields a somewhat bumpy result takes about four minutes. It took me 35 minutes alone to cut the tape to fit the designs, but the glitter layed flat like I want. I'm working with seniors and the adhesive tape is not senior-friendly for this task.
I also tried the glitter/glue combination in the squeeze bottle with the brand Stickles. It worked well, but tended to puddle and I didn't need more glitter as I already purchased it in the colors and quantity required for the project. I think an experienced scrapbooker who bought this product at the beginning of the project, planning the project around the product would have excellent results. The color choices were limited, too.
I took the results of my experiment to a local scrapbooking store and was lucky enough to find a group of women having a blast "cropping" (I don't scrapbook, so I'm not familiar with that term). They looked at what I'd done and they told me that, indeed, the double-sided adhesive was wrong for my task and that a glue pen with a fine tip was what I needed. One woman had just the glue pen and we tried it on the spot and it was miraculous!
So, for the record and in case anyone wants to adhere ultra fine glitter to paper without anything but a sparkle to it, this is what you need: Zig brand 2 Way Glue Pen Fine Tip. Make sure you sprinkle with glitter before the color changes or you lose a lot of glitter in the process, so you have to do small areas at one time which is good if you are working with multiple colors in many areas. Another scrapbooker said she used a similar product by EK Success.
