I made three cards this week.

Hi.

It has been an emotionally stressful week for me. Sometimes my depression hits hard and it is difficult for me to dig myself up from under the covers. (it also makes enjoying my newborn niece hard.)

My therapist urged me to make something so I made a couple of cards. One I don't like and may re-work it (the floral card), the other two I'm o.k. with.

They are under "2005 card making" in my webshots account. Click here:

Kate, your cards are beautiful! I really like the cards featuring the little girl, those are so pretty!! Sorry your depression is getting to you just now, but it will come to an end...keep making the cards and you'll get through!!! I like the floral card too, but if I were reworking it, I'd probably keep it just the same but leave out the vines....then it will have nice clean lines...but that is just my personal style...it is a very pretty card as it is!! Beautiful cards, Kate! I especially like "Spring window". It looks handpainted, like watercolors. The butterfly card is beautiful too, with a whimsical touch. I like the 3-D look on the floral card.

Great cards. I like making them but really don't have anyone to send them to.

Kate, just hang in there! I love your cards :) The butterfly one is totally exquisite! I'm going to scraplift your window card for mothers day cards, if that's okay! Really beautiful.

May I ask you something? On the spring day card, is the picture pieced or from a paper?

Beautiful work!

Hi Rach,

The spring day card was pieced together.

I used chalk for the sky. Skickers for the clouds, butterfly, and grass. A mounted rubberstamp for the little girl and markers to color her in.

Then I just layered everything after I stamped the little girl in the appropriate corner.

Hope this helps, Kate

Kate, Sorry to hear you're going through a hard time. Hope tings get better soon. Love your Bouquet of flowers. That had to have taken a lot of time. After making something that beautiful I would think it would be hard to part with it. Sandy

It does. Thank you. I'm going to try it, even though I'm terrible with chalk. (sigh) BTW, DD's middle name is Kate. She was named for my grandmother.

Kate, I had a look at the cards and they're lovely! I tend to get depressed too and my shrink was always telling me that I should be doing active brain-engaging things... it really does help when I gave it a go - of course, doing that requires pulling yourself out of the funk far enough to 'engage' and get started! That was one of the reasons I started making cards - they're small enough that it's not such a challenge to fill in the blank space and if it doesn't work, well it's only 5 inches square and not a whole lot of wasted material. Hope you feel a bit brighter soon...
