Is there a way to check if paper is acid-free?

I am wondering about some handmade papers -- is there a way to check if they are acid free? Could you, say, whiz some up in a blender with water and then use litmus paper or something? Or is there a product already available to do this kind of testing?

I have a felt-tip marker that tests the pH of paper. If the mark stays purple, it's OK to use. If it fades to yellow, it has too much acid. (or vice versa... I need to grab my pen!)

What kind of pen is that and where do you get it?

Thanks!

I dug it out... It's called: The Acid Test pH Testing Pen by Illustrator. It looks like a purple marker. I bought it at my rubber stamp store, but I've seen it at the scrapbook store too. My city is blessed with six scrapbook stores and a couple of rubber stamp shops in addition to Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Wal-Mart. I can get into a lot of trouble.
