They had a huge sale today, starting at 8 am, and I wanted to get a scrapbook totes that they were advertising for $19.99 (usually $59.99!) Got to the store at around 8:10, and would you believe they were totally sold out! Boohoo! :-(
Turned out they were giving special orders and that the price would be the same so I ordered 2 that should arrive in a few weeks. In the meantime, a lady behind me had found a similar one and asked the cashier to check the price (it had several $59.99 stickers on it)--turned out it *was* also on sale for $19.99! I had glanced at it but figured it was NOT on sale and could have kicked myself for not grabbing it--the next thing I know the lady is telling me she's decided NOT to get that one but will wait for the special order ones--so I went over and checked out the bag more carefully...not as many pockets, but still, nice enough to carry stuff in. So I decided to get it.
Wandered around and did a little bit of damage with a lot of the stuff they had on sale, but hey, my anniversary is next week and my DH hasn't bought me a gift in years, so I feel I'm entitled to go out once or twice a year and stock up on scrapbook essentials! :-)
Finally went to check out, and there was a new girl on the register--she says, "You know that's not the one on sale, right?" And I told her, well, the lady before her had scanned it and it came up $19.99, and she looked really sceptical but scanned it anyway, and BAM! $19.99!! She was a little shocked and said, "I *know* that one wasn't on sale, what the..." and then she noticed the code number on there and put two and two together--someone had mislabeled the bag with the stickers for the sale bags!! I asked her if that meant I couldn't get it for the $19.99 price, and she says, "Yes, we have to sell it to you for that because that's what it's marked as!"
I'm not sure what the actual cost is/was, but someone's selling one on ebay for $35.00--still saved $15 even so! :-)
