Jo-Ann Cutting Mat ?

In Jo-Ann's Nov 18 - Nov 22 flyer, they have a cutting mat advertised (page

11). Has anyone bought and used this mat?

I really need a new mat and would like a white one instead of the green one I've had for years and years. $39.99 for a 36" x 59" mat is a pretty good price if it's any good.

Donna - I've had my mat like that for years, and absolutely love it. I used a 1/2 price coupon to get mine. And the nicest thing - the grid lines really are straight and true, at least on mine.

Looks like I'll be buying a cutting mat tomorrow! Thanks to everyone who let me know they like their mats.

Even better - I have a $5 off coupon for any purchase over $25 including regular and sale-priced items, also a $10 off purchase over $50, $15 off purchase over $75. Good thing I checked my yahoo mail!

be careful about heating the mat. I did that. There is still a hill in my mat. I have to use the other end. It kind of swelled up. Vikki in WA State

There is possibly a safer way to flatten it. We've used this method for a lot of things including rolls of Armstrong flooring so I can't see how it could harm the cutting mat. You need a flat surface outside, a nice warm sunny day, and a few weights. Lay it outside, let it get all nice and warm and pliable, then lay something flat like books on it for a little while. When you bring it indoors you need to lay it flat with the weights on it until it cools back down. You could do the whole thing indoors if you have a nice big window to let sunshine in onto the mat. I have my new mat, with no thanks to a rude employee at Jo-Anns.

I thought they kept the mats and the folding cutting tables in the same location. Didn't see any mats, so asked a male employee if they had any more mats to which I received an almost unintelligible answer to the effect that if there aren't any back there we don't have any - never offered to go look for me. Then I was standing there deciding whether to tell the male employee that he was exceedingly rude, a young female employee said if there aren't any there we don't have any more. I then asked for a rain check - the rude male employee says "WE DON'T GIVE RAINCHECKS."

I was just about to leave without buying the fabric I really wanted, then circled back around to get it cut & found the mats on the shelf with the other mats.

I sure wish I had a choice of other stores to shop in - if I did I would never step foot in that Jo-Ann's again.
