Anyone in a Jo Morton miniature group?

There has been some interest at our local quilt shop in a Jo Morton miniature group. Is anyone involved in such a group either through a shop, guild or just a group of friends? I am trying to decide how to organize the group. Are Jo Morton's miniatures different from other miniatures other than her desire to make them look old? I know those "into" Dear Jane would not want to be in a group using other types of small block patterns. Are Jo's followers as crazy as Janiacs?

I have made and collected miniature quilts for years. There are over

100 quilts in my collection. Those that I have purchased have been mainly at charity auctions like the one held each year at NQA. I use them throughout my home like pictures on the walls. They are rotated during the year with the seasons. Many are in the 18" by 22" range because that way I can swap them without changing other things in the decor.

My girlfriend and I just finished the first 6 months of Jo Morton's miniature group. It was fun although our "teacher" didn't teach - she just presented the projects. Some gals weren't as experienced with quilting as some of the others and they dropped out rather quickly. Sad.

I finished all the projects except for the last one. My girlfriend incorporated all the projects into one large quilt and it is stunning!

We all started out with the same pack of Jo's fat qtrs. Others added whatever fabric they wanted to use without regard to the maker. I incorporated other Jo Morton's fabrics since I already had quite a bit of them in my stash. All in all, it was fun but I won't be doing the second part of the series.

HTH!

Thanks. I would love to see a photo of both your projects and the larger quilt your friend made.
