Gone for a few days

I am leaving this morning for the quilt show in Rosemont (Chicago). Although the event is easily within driving distance, my friend and I stay at the hotel for the week end. We call this our giggle week end. Today I am taking a class from Georgia Bonesteel. Tonight I shop!!! Only those registered for the entire event are allowed to shop tonight so the crowd is less. The rest of the week end I will rest or help my friend with her booth. If you are at the show stop by The Quilt Merchant booth (#1344 &1346) and ask if Susan is around. I know I will be there at 1:30 on Friday because I plan to meet members of the Jo Morton Stitchers chat group. Since I haven't made any of the projects I purchased last year I am seriously limiting my purchases. OK, I said that last year too. Will report back on any of the new things I see.

Do some giggling on our behalf too, Susan. I would love to meet Georgia Bonesteel. I would like to thank her for explaining things to me so beautifully. She's a fine teacher. Polly

I'll be there on Sunday for sure....maybe Saturday afternoon if I can manage it. I'm taking our Russian friends back to Chicago so they can stay with another Russian friend of theirs before they leave on Monday. As it turns out, their "Chicago friend" lives in Racine, Wisconsin! Oh dear. I'm hoping for a passenger exchange at Woodfield Mall in the morning so I can get to the quilt show in the afternoon....but I'm not holding out much hope that timetable will happen. I'll just be at the doors as soon as they open on Sunday I guess. After the two weeks I've had, I NEED the quilt show!!!! :-)

Georgia Bonesteel taught me to piece and quilt! Of course, I've never met her in real life, but her TV series from decades ago and her marvelously clear books got me started on this obsession when I'd previously thought I couldn't do it without a gigantic floor frame.

Georgia Bonesteel lives in Hendersonville, NC. Half the year I live in SC and occasionally drive an hour up to Hendersonville, but have never managed to meet her. Yeah, her books and TV series taught me how to quilt without a frame. She is my Hero! I have 3 of her books. Barbara in SC during the Summer, but still in FL right now.

Neener, neener, neener -- I have *four*! ;) I think she did a *lot* of potential quilters an enormous service with her TV series and books. Even though don't use them any longer, I refuse to get rid of them out of a sense of loyalty. LOL!

Yup -- a *long* time ago. For me it was in the early- to mid-80s. Gosh! Where does the time go?
