I was merrily cutting 1-1/2 inch strips for a swap, when it was time to go to a party.
Stupid me left the cutting mat on the living room coffee table (no sewing room as yet), because I KNEW I had to finish by Monday am.
Returned home from the party, woke up this morning... went to cut a few strips.
The mat is warped warped warped.
How did that happen? DH found a CURLING IRON on the ironing board. The weapon is identified, the circumstances are all supposition.
DD had some friends over to hang out and then sleep. They were all on the deck outside and two went inside, one 'for a sweatshirt'. DD guesses the hair needed a 'touch up' straightening before gf went back to the deck? And another gf was already in the bathroom so this young lady evidenlty PLUGGED HER CURLING IRON in the LIVING ROOM.
I guess she thought the mat was a pretty handy hotplate to protect the coffee table.
DD is mortified and swears she never thought she needed to monitor her guests every minute. I can't blame her either, as personally DD could NEVER even imagine such disregard.
Sigh.....
And this was my BIG mat, too. The one that was a yard wide and perfect for cutting full strips. I looked online and it is at Jo-Anns -- "on sale" for $34.99 instead of the usual $49.99 but the website says online only.... so add shipping I guess.
I'm cranky and going to get a cuppa coffee.
