Revolving cutting mat

I had ordered a revolving cutting map from an online store -- and it was backordered... and backordered... and backordered.

I just learned that the manufacturer is no longer making the product.

So if you have one -- or see one in your local quilt shop -- I REALLY WANT THIS! and will reimburse you for all expenses.

It is called Matilda's Own ROUND Revolving Rotary Cutting Mat 15in (item

59085) == it is ROUND (I have a square one).

So if you happen to find it in stock online or in a local shop -- please let me know! Thanks!

I tried one, but didn't really get on with it, so I didn't buy one, but I do have the square one. I find I forget it revolves and turn around myself anyway. It has been useful for blocking, but nothing else rally, even fiddly appliqu=E9 pieces, which is what I bought it for.

When I needed a round one for a while, I strapped a slightly smaller one onto a lazy-susan and used that. It worked well enough for what I needed.

So, don't be too too disappointed if you can't get one. IMO they are very curate's egg (good in parts). But you may know differently.

I always wondered about those revolving mats. I tend to put a *lot* of pressure on both the hand on the ruler and the cutter. Would the mats wobble from the pressure or would I break the parts that make it revolve?

Hope you can locate one, Kate, and that it's all you hope it will be for you!

I also have the square one.... but when I do paper piecing -- I like to have it close to the machine and the square takes a wide swath when you turn it. I borrowed one from a friend and fell in love... the footprint is nice and compact and is perfect for my paper piecing style.

The square one works -- just takes up too much space in the process.

I'm not sure what manner of weapons and choice words would be involved but could you take a square one and make it round? Both my easel for oil painting and the tabletop for mosaic assembly rotate and the ability to turn something 'in progress' is wonderful. Polly

I bought one at my LQS, and it would not turn. It was not an Olfa. I waited until I had a 50% off coupon from Hobby Lobby and bought an Olfa there. I love it. I know Jo-Anns and Hancock's have carried them.
