we had this problem with bellsouth too. DH lost a bunch of his groups. He ended up resubscribing and they came back up.
Apparently bellsouth switch usenet providers or something and the service is very unpredictable now.
He right clicked on the newsgroup and chose unsubscribe. then he right clicked on the newsgroup context (for me that is newsgroups.bellsouth.net) and clicked on newsgroups. then search for the group and subscribe.
dont know if this makes anysense, but hope it works!
