Oh Sabrina, I am so sorry! I know I am a wreck when we loose one of our little ones...and rats and hamsters have a short life expectancy....I can't imagine the pain of loosing a 21 year old furbaby. Many hugs to you :-(

So sorry to hear of the loss of your kitty. We had to put ours to sleep a couple of years ago, and it was hard, too. She was 18, and just woke up one day, and she was paralyzed and couldnt walk. We think she had a stroke or something, Poor thing. Its amazing how much we get attatched! ((hugs)) to you and your family! Linda C

Oh, Sabrina. :::sending hugs:::

I've had the great fortune of having 2 long-term furkids (both cats) share my life. Sammi & I grew up together, more or less (got him when I was 7) & he made it to almost 18. He'd been going downhill for sometime, so it wasn't a surprise, but still a great loss. I love my kitties more than most humans.

I wasn't looking for another cat when Tigger insisted on joining my life. I'm so thankful he was insistent! We've been together over 19 years. I'm lucky he's apparently healthy, & I'm grateful for every day he stays in my life. I'll be devastated when his time comes.

I won't say "I know how you feel" (I hate that phrase) since I'm not you, but I know how I'd feel if it were Tigger.

May time ease the hurt & may you find comfort in your memories of Pee Wee.

Alicia (& Tigger)

Thanks Deb. Yes he was a character. Everyone agrees on that. It was part of his charm. I was always amused at the looks on people's faces when he would grace them with a lap sit. No amount of coaxing or baby talk could get him to honor you by letting you pick him up or any show of affection....so if he got into your lap...it just stunned the person and they wouldn't dare move ,afraid he would get up and leave. He would let me carry him around and even sit in the rocking chair...but as soon as I put him down..he would shake off that experience quickly. I could almost hear him saying... brrrr,people touch!

Thank you Kenda, We are still finding ourselves looking for him to come into the room. My DD Kate and spouse came over and got the left over cat food and other things we had for him. They have two cutie pie cats. I think twenty one years of memories will take awhile to adjust to being without.

Thank you Dave, I know you understand how Fred and I felt about this little bit of fur and purr. He was just part of the family. I had called Jill late Monday and she had not had a chance to tell dear Ashley until she picked her up from school. That little granddaughter of mine got on the phone at once and called me . The first words she said ,with tears were Oh Nana I am so sorry about Pee Wee. She had known him all of her life and she was really upset. We both cried a little together then she talked to Granddaddy and I saw him tearing up again. He was very loved and we feel so glad that we had him as long as we did.

Thank you Chrissy, He was with us so long that we just sort of felt he would be here forever. I am comforted by the fact that living to be 21 is pretty long for a cat. It is hard to see them go. He did not suffer much that we could tell. We stayed with him until he took his last breath and he was here in his own house. Yes, he made it quite clear it was HIS house. :-)

Thank you Linda. He could hardly stand Monday and just laid in his favorite spot until he died. I think he was just shutting down.

Thank you Alicia, You do know what it feels like to have a cat for a long time. I think that in itself is an honor. I don't think we will look for a new one soon but we are a cat loving family and I know one will come.

Sabrina, I'm so sorry. When I saw the subject of your thread I said to myself "oh no". Then I read it and now I have tears in my eyes too. I know how it is to lose a pet. I'm so glad you had as many years as you did w/ him and I know you cherish the memories.

Sabrina, I just saw this.. I am so sorry to hear about PeeWee. I know you are devastated. Twice in the last few years I've lost cats I've had for a long time, and I still tear up whenever I am reminded of them, or think about them, or look at the photos. It can be almost as bad as losing a child. And it helps to know, that someday you will find him, waiting eagerly, at the Rainbow Bridge.

Sending prayers and hugs to you and your family.
