New thread: What other crafts???

I cross stitch, sew, stamp and various odds and ends I might find in the craft stores. ALL my money is in scrapping or XS though LOL I'm thinking of taking a knitting class and starting back in it ... the fibers available today are sooooooooo AWESOME! Well I'm like you CC... any craft I can get my hands on! I'm possessed with craftiness. What I mean by that is if a period of time goes by without me doing some craft project I get antsy and have to create something. I have boxes and boxes and dresser drawers full of different crafts, but because the house is so clutter I've decided in recent months to pair things down to just my favorites.

  1. Scrapbooking and stamping
2 Crocheting
  1. Polymer clay
  2. Tye Dyeing
  3. Pysanky
  4. Love to cook and consider it crafting too. This time of year I made gingerbread houses with the kids and their friends. I bake up real gingerbread and make royal frosting, ask each kid to bring a bag of candy and let it fly.

Hi Dawn,

I love to make jam. I got more into it about 3 years ago when a new friend said she'd always wanted to make jam. I told her it was easy and we've been making jam together ever since. What has been your favorite? Mine is a sour cherry jam. My dad has a sour cherry tree. I don't know where to get them any other place. It makes the best and most sought after jam. I had a teacher ask me the whole next year if she could have more jam. My child wasn't in her class anymore and I didn't want to break her heart and say no. Finally at the end of the year when I knew I had one extra jar left I gave her one.

It is a way of decorating eggs. Kind of like batiking an egg. I do it every year. Usually around Easter. Sometimes start earlier to be ready for Easter.

Great thread, CC!!

For me, I will do most anything crafty if something appeals to me. If I see something I like at a craft fair or store, I buy one, take it apart, and make my own..... :)

I am one of those people with a lot of nervous energy. :)

Well, I like to Cross stitch and when I lived at home I did Plastic Canvas. I've put cross stitch aside now that I started Scrapbooking. I actually have a cross stitch thing that I really need to finish and give to my MIL. I like to try new crafts as well :)

Digital photo collages???? I just started one of those! I think I'm getting it down...I'm using Photo Shop Elements. Do you have any tips or tricks to share? Also, do you print them - if so, where and how? THANKS!!

Shaz, the Koala ended up being quite the project. I got the pattern from Australia, the special nose from Maryland I think, the fur from Pensylvania, the Glass eyes and felt from California, and the stuffing, well that was local from JoAnns. It was 34 inches high! I'll see if I can dig out a picture.

Well....I just started beading, painting, knitting, and I'm going to start going to some craft shows with a friend who does handpainted mailboxes. We are having fun with it!

Scrapbooking used to take all my time but I'm looking for some other ways to keep me busy.

Hey Dawn -- I have some of my digital collages posted on picture trails. Have a peek at my Digital Album

Yes, I do print them and put them 8.5 x 11 page protectors in my regular photo albums. I prefer to make a collage of a series of pictures then to print individuals.

I also print a second copy for my Mom's album if the subject is my grandchildren.

Collages are lots of fun - one page protector vs a fortune in 4x6 or

3x5 pocket pages. As to tricks and hints --- just go for it --- if you run into any problems let me know. Same principles as scrapbooking.

I have both PS Elements and MS Picture It. I use Adobe Photoshop 6.0 for all other digital work scrapbooking & restoration etc.

I recently completed a restoration of my daughter-in-law at 3mths (took me 21 hrs to restore) I posted it to my digital album so you could see it - I will use this restoration, pics of my three granddaughters at birth and my son at 10mths for a family collage and give it to them for Christmas.

My primary interest is natropathy and aromatherapy. Soapmaking allows me to explore part of that interest however I am hesitant to go beyond self healing due to lack of formal training and liabilities. I know the healing properties of the more common herbs, but dosages and interactions are another.
