OT: Got my tattoo for a Mother's Day present

I just wanted to tell everyone that I got a tattoo for a Mother's Day present but the catch is that DH doesn't know about it yet. He's on the road and will be home tomorrow. I got his name in Thai just above some stars and swooshes (or something like that). I am going to show him his name in Thai and tell him that is what I am going to have done along with something pretty around it. Then I am going to bend down to get something so he can see it (it's on my lower back). I wasn't going to get it there because everyone else does but when I saw the design completed it just seemed like it fit there. BTW, I found a temporary tattoo at a party supply store that I went to on Friday. I don't have a picture of my tattoo yet (it's covered with ointment and a "bandage"). I will have Chris take a pic tomorrow and I will post it then.

I can hardly wait to tell him!!!! And.. it did hurt a little. Have you ever used one of those things that pulls your hair out or had your eyebrows waxed? OK, well think of having that done over and over again - I flinched and grimaced a lot. But it only hurt while he was doing the outline and after that I was pretty much used to it.

oh cool Patty :) I have 7 of them myself. Yeah that outline part is the worst of it..and also if you get it on a fleshy part or a bony part makes a difference.. my back didn't hurt as much as my ankle did.. That was a cool idea to get his name like that. My husband has my initials on his back.. the only thing is under it..... is a grim reaper type thing! lol.. he says one has nothing to do with the other but why did he get them so close together anyway? rofl

Well this guy is the only one in LC that does tattoos anymore (I found out that the other one --who did my belly button piercing BH before Hannah/the piercing I don't have anymore-- closed down his shop and was staying in a motel room for a while and was doing tats out of his room!)

Anyway, I went to this other guy (who some friends have highly recommended) and he's in this older wood house that I thought might not be so great. But it's very clean on the inside and his room where he does his stuff is not visible by the public. He's very sterile and he doesn't have any freaky looking piercings or tattoos (that I could see). I was very impressed with him. He started out by hanging around a tattoo shop and then learning the skill - he's been doing it for 26 years. He has AA degrees from the local community college here in Lake City in Business Administration and Accounting Administration - and he was member of Phi Beta Kappa. He has a great picture of his extended family on the counter and the thing that I thought the most of was when I asked him where he had lived before LC. He said he had been to a lot of the big cities - can't think of all of them - Canton, Atlanta, Las Vegas, (I think were some of them) and I asked how he wound up here in this small town and he said his mom retired here so he moved close to mom and they just bought property next to them to build a place for his mom. He was very professional.

After all that, I know that I will go back to him again and I am going to take Chris there to get one of his tattoos recolored and possibly get him another one. I was VERY impressed!! So if you ever decide to get one, come on over.
