Mother's Day UK

I know in the past there have been comments that knowing when Mother's Day will be in the UK would be useful. Well I can assure you that in

2008 it is on Sunday 2nd March - i.e. 3 weeks today. That means I have just one week to finish DMILs gift before she goes away to visit her daughter in Florida.

To keep this post on topic I shall tell you that her gift is quilted and should be finished in time as long as I do not end up sat in A&E (ER) with DS1 who fell headfirst out of a tree (as I did today) or for any other daft reasons they come up with during the half-term holiday this week! Last weekend we had snow which stayed on the ground for all of half a day and DS2 managed to toboggan into a stream - very wet, very cold but, after a hot shower, very pleased with his adventure. It is no wonder I am going grey....

Lizzy, I have two sons. Thank goodness they are now grown and on their own. During their growing up years, almost every day I wondered if they'd live until their next birthday! One of the most memorable was when the school called me at work to say the elder one had hurt his knee. I arrived at the school to find his kneecap on the back of his knee joint and he couldn't bend his leg- obviously. Talk about being frightened out of my wits and totally grossed-out at the same time! The younger was running backwards in the school hall and tripped, bounced his rock hard head off several things on his way down to the floor and spent three days in the hospital with a concussion. I wonder how we mothers survive with merely getting gray hairs and not one heart attack after another!

You will earn every one of those gray hairs- and love every (well, *almost* every!) minute of it. Fond memories for me- how I wish they lived closer so I could see what mischief they dream up in their adulthood.

Good luck with getting your project(s) finished!

I hear ya, Leslie! I've seen a magnet that says "There's a special place in heaven for the mothers of two boys." I'll see you and Lizzy there ... in the quilting corner ..... but not for a loooooooong time I hope! Grins, PAT

...cut... It is no wonder I am going

It's crazy isn't it? Last weekend we had snow, this weekend is so warm you can go out in shirtsleeves (well, here in North Cheshire you can anyway). I've got to work this evening so what do I do today? Quilting or gardening? Gardening or quilting? Life is full of hard choices.
